I think because its such a versatile classic Rolex! Probably the best resale value and an unmistakeable iconic design! It's the perfect combination of sport and dress. It's the perfect first and only watch. Unless you're nuts like us and need many watches. I have quite a few friends who only have a sub and they are perfectly content to keep it that way.

It is simply the classic rolex, stable all the way as well as far as pricing/demand(as opposed to daytona), not an oddball rolex to anyone! and perfect!

It's Rolex's most popular sports model. There are probably a lot of reasons for this, but not everyone prescribes to this. I have 2 Rolex watches and neither is a sub.

Why? Connery, Sean Connery.
Just kidding. Because. No, seriously. It is a classic. Good with jeans or a tux. Iconic. Can't go wrong with it.

The Sub is a natural place to start. Sub or DJ.

Aside from a DJ, the Sub is one of the most recognizable watches in the world.

Aesthetic, iconic, rich in history, durable, dependable, recognizable and holds it's value.
It's very easy to like for most - and for those that are unsure, it's a safe decision. |

Classic design and it has history, I had a Sub, but wanted something bigger so I got the DSSD.

It was my first Rolex, bought in 1994, for many of the reasons above.

It was my first 25 years ago. Great first because its "affordable", sporty, dress up or down, can wear everyday and water proof.
Go get one if you haven't already. Great way to start a collection. |

Like many others said, it's an all around classic yet current watch that will be a timeless piece. I personally don't think a Submariner will ever go out of style. Plus if you've been looking around at other non-Rolex watch brands.. The ones that cost a few hundred or less, they've all been copying the Submariner for their style. So, evidently it's the watch to have. I think it makes a good statement. Not too flashy (SS) and a true statement of hard work and success!

The sub is awesome but for me, the GMT 2c is my one and only Rolex. It fits the bill.

This but swap out the pumps and evening gown with professional shoes or sandals and shorts or a suit.
