Seeing old non-maxi dial

I made a great deal with David SW in 6/2011 to trade my 16610 for a 16610LV. This watch had been calling my name for a few years and I finally pulled trigger after 5 years with 16610. Love the watch and the maxi dial, which was reason I wanted this watch.
Anyway I saw a 16610 for first time in two years at a Radcliffes which sells traded in Rolexes and I could not believe how small the markers looked! I know people have been doing just great with this watch for years but its amazing what you get used to.

The so called maxi dials are not something new, many of the vintage sports range had maxi dials but then without the bling gold surrounds.

I've always liked maxi dials, whether vintage or new. Just balances the watches I think

I love the maxi dials (both new and vintage matte). The the plots on the non-maxi look way too small to me.

Not a Maxi dial fan. Hand too thick for my tastes.

When going from my LV to my SD I really notice the difference at first, the indices and hands look so small in comparisome, lol.

But it's not an issue, LOVE them both !

I love the maxi dials. Once I saw one, I looked down at my wrist and looked at my 16610, I immediately thought my dial was tiny.

If you dont mind me asking, which do you enjoy wearing the most regardless of the plots, LV or SD?

me too, I even thought about buying the maxi dial/hands, but for $1,700, I didn't think it would be worth it.

Don't mind at all, the SD probably edges out the LV, by a slight margin as my favourite.

On the other hand the LV is in a class of it's own, best of the old and new school, imho, and a bit more comfortable on the hot humid days of summer.

I would absolutely hate to have to choose one over the other !

I had a SD and loved that thing to death. It was my first Rolex and the one I had wanted since about 1995. In the I just couldn't live with the mini-dial. I miss it at times but will never own a Rolex unless it has a maxi dial.
I now have two ceramic era Rolexes and love the bold indices and thick hands, the watch is immensely more legible and the lume is actually functional throughout the night.
In time I'd love to get one of the vintage Submariners with the bold maxi style dials.

For me it's maxi or bust.

I felt the same way in regards to the same two watches. I threw a Sub C in there between but now I have an LV like you. Congratulations and enjoy
