5513 Gloss Dial from 84 - Lume question

Hello,

Just received a 5513, slapped it on my wrist and drove home last night and right away noticed the lume? Vibrant! This surprised me that the lume was this strong, I have a few tudors subs 80, 84 snowflakes and no lume whatsoever.

This watch is from 1984 - White gold surround markers swiss - t < 25
Serial is 849***
Reference 5513
Movement 1520
Case back 5512
Bracelet 93150 - 580

So when I got home I basically turned the watch inside out down to the bracelet screws and pins. Everything points to being correct.

What would cause this tritium to be so strong? The half life is supposed to be 12.5 years or so and no charging required, like the explorer II above?

Confused?

Thanks

Might have been relumed or might be a service replacement dial and hands. Some luminova service dials are still marked as tritium dials on the bottom, as odd as that seems.

However, some tritium batches are stronger than others, depending on the chemistry. I have a '67 Omega Speedy with tritium that still glows, and a '77 DJ that still has some life. But both fade pretty quickly. Yours does indeed look as if the glow is surprisingly strong if it were 32-year-old tritium, and it looks quite green too. Tritium glow, on my watches anyway, seems slightly more yellow than green when they glow.

I agree

The blue lume indicates it is luminova and not tritium.
The tritium plots on my 5513 of the same period is completely dead
