Its currently priced right about what its worth unless you can get it for not much more. I predict it will go much higher unfortunately. I would keep looking.

Thanks...yes, I also like the originality and patina of it (and movement looks good) but 63 bids is fairly nuts, and I expect it to get the nutso final 5 minutes as well....ah well....

Couple of things, midsize generally means 31mm just want to mention that. To me, it looks like a repaint, ROLEX is a bit sketchy, the font looks off. Even worse is the 'buildup' of paint around the markers, generally a sure sign of a repaint. I hope Springer or Tommy wander by, they know far more than I do.

No I didn't buy it...duty and the rest would have quickly mounted here in the UK....

Offrdmania....no, it wasn't me. I also had concerns like Richard Carver. I've got 30 years in old guitar finishes/shrinkage/discolouring, and not sure that dial sat right with me either...but then again quality could be all over the place in most industries back then...(they were using cellulosed-based, presumably?) Also, it's a very small watch...

The search goes on....

It's very small. Very few people would be satisified today with that watch. By the time I saw it, it was gone. I think the dial is okay. It appears to be "gilt" rather than printed. That's not likely to be faked on a Speed King. The giveaway on dials with embossed markers such as this is they generally get very rounded off with stripping the old finish and then polishing and replating. These are flat and crisp...with no evidence of rounding. Possible but not likely in a refinish situation. The rest of the watch looks untouched. It's also late enough for a calibre 1210...not a 710...you don't see many.
