No crown gaurd submariner experts.... white second hands?

When I acquired my '58 5508, I assumed the second hand had been replaced. Recently, as recently as today, I've seen several big and small crown no crown gaurd examples with white hands like mine:

You will find them on subs, gmts and explorers. Nothing odd during the late 50’s.
