1675 bezel insert too small to fit into bezel ring

Hi everyone, I recently bought a ghost insert for my 1675 GMT Master.

I realized that the 1675 bezel insert too small to fit into bezel ring. Comparing it to the pepsi insert that I have, the pepsi insert appears to be slightly flatter than the ghost insert.

Does anyone have a solution to possibly flatten my ghost insert to make the diameter wider (to fit into the bezel ring)?

Thanks.

If you flatten the insert that will make it larger, is it the correct insert?.

Go to a watchmaker and let him adjust the bezel, glass ring and insert to fit. With todays prices for inserts there is really no reason to risk damaging a nice insert yourself.

Can you post a photo of the front and back of your insert? Perhaps it's a 16710 insert rather than a 1675.

I recently sold my genuine ghost 16710 insert so I know they exist.

Also check the edge of the insert and see if it looks like bare metal which means someone filed the edge to fit it easily within a tight or newer bezel. I've seen this several times in the past and it will definitely make it fit loose on an older bezel.

As 037 mentioned, your insert might be for a sapphire model. If you check this thread on gmtforum.com regarding GMT bezel inserts, it has plenty of photos depicting the differences between inserts for the acrylic crystal GMT models (1675 and 16750) and the sapphire models (GMT 16700, GMT II 16760/16710).

Springer, I have followed your advice and found out that my ghost insert is actually meant for sapphire models (with the 3 rings at the back of the insert). When I bought it, it was misrepresented as a 1675/16750 insert. I guess I learn from this experience.

Thank you very much.
