Thoughts on this 5513

Hey guys, friend of a friend is offering to sell this 5513, any thoughts and ideas on value?

It's an L serial from 1989. Not a huge vintage expert, did some reading and looks like it's special because it's the last sub before going to a sapphire crystal, and it's a glossy dial. Looks like the lume plots have really nice patina and the bezel has faded to grey-blue.

Anyways, anything else that jumps out? Any base price evaluation? Looks like they run from around 8-15k online depending on patina, etc.

Yeah I was thinking that too. I can ask if the originals are included.

Lume plots are aged to varying shades, not the best example dial-wise

I can't comment on US prices but late gloss dial 5513's are towards the lower end of pricing, with box, papers, or full set all adding to the price and replacement hands reducing it. Shame about the hands as the dial patina looks nice

Thanks for the info. What drew me in was the bezel faded to that nice even color, and the lume plots also looking nice. I believe he's asking around 10k which seems reasonable, but maybe not my first choice if I was spending that amount of money. God it's hard waiting for a hulk to come in stock...

I think for 10k you could find a better example (all original) and something a bit older. I recently saw a 84 and 85 5513 in the for sale forum for between 8.2-10k.

Does the fact that it is the last 5513 and is transitional with the gloss dial not add anything?

No transition gloss adds no value....transitional matte adds value....

The transitional glossy 5513 is my most favourite watch in my collection. I do own matte 5513 and surprisingly it is easier to find matte dial 5523 than the glossy 5513 as the latter were made in much lesser quantity.

I think that was caused by light shining in the crystal from an angle. Here’s an enhanced view of the OP’s pic to show where that light was hitting the crystal.

Yeah the lume looks pretty decent to me. This was a picture sent by the seller, haven't seen it in person yet.
