The 16610 LV Kermit is king!

Any other " young-timer" sought after like the Kermits?! (Rhetorical question)

You’d have to be a toad-licking crack-head to buy that particular watch.

This is what they already said in 2010, 2011, 2012, 2013, 2013, 2014, 2015, 2016, 2017, 2018 and now 2019 BUT only in 2010, 2011, 2012, 2013, 2014, 2015, 2016, 2017, 2018 you got themes for less than now in 2019. Just search the archive for all the false predictions! The warners were all wrong!

The issue is not that 16610LV isnt appreciating - it clearly is, as you point out - but that you can get the watch, with flat 4 if that floats your boat, even a 2003 model if you really care, for half the price. The watch linked to isn’t even in NOS condition. The seller is trying to to reel in a sucker.

Admittedly, they say one is born every minute, so what do I know?

It doesn’t make sense to me why Rolex made a Submariner Date for the 50th anniversary of the Submariner. That watch is a 36th anniversary model.

You might be right! 50 k break a new barriere-but it's a 92 serial and personally i know an italian grey dealer who already sold a 96 serial for over 45 k $ . A question of time and the 50 k will be paid! As PP says-time will tell!

Am I the only one who thinks Kermit's are stupid. An overpriced 16610 with an ugly green disposable aluminum insert.

It's not the same with the HULK which is more than just an insert swap.

I am in full agreement with you. I think the Kermit is pretty unattractive and overrated. The Hulk, even though it wouldn't be my first choice, is 10x better and more interesting.

Probably because the date is more widely marketable, and Rolex isn’t so pedantic

Assuming those are punched European papers? Then there is no LV designation anywhere on these early documents so no way to tell if it is not a regular 16610 with swapped parts. It needs an RSC service document or insurance appraisal to prove it was born an LV.

Yes, kinda stupid - but you're not the only one. The "Kermit" is not just a bezel insert swap. It is a maxi dial, large hour hand and it is a moderne watch in a slim case. The best of two worlds.

I'm still baffled that people are so uneducated and don't pay attention to watch design details. ;)

My apologies. It is a bezel swap with a bad dial and hand.

No. You aren’t. Many think like you. But there are also a great many who will pay 25K+ for this reference and a few who will pay 50K. That’s the great thing about our hobby. It’s all personal preference. I have a 2007 reference 16610LV and I tell my wife that it will be our first 100K watch.

Love mine and despite all the nay sayers, the price of this reference will continue to rise, and rise fast. Wait another ten years and see where this model stands.

Say what you want about those who spend money to buy this discontinued reference. In a world of over seven billion people, there are many with the means not to give a second thought regarding the price.

No more marketable than the original. I’ll bet Hans Wilsdorf was a pedant in his day. Probably why the company is what it is today.
