Sell What You Like To Buy What You Love!

I know a lot of Rolex purists may cringe when they hear this story. 12 years ago I bought a new Z series Coke GMT 16710. I loved the watch but over the years my love turned to like and I found I just wasn't wearing it as much.

I'm not a Rolex collector and although it was my first, it held no real sentimental value and the old school stamped clasp and hollow bracelet I felt just hadn't kept up with the times. I know, I know, that's what a lot of folks love about those 5 digits, but not me.

So last week I decided to sell it given what the market is like right now. I got a really fair price from one of our Trusted Sellers here and received 2 1/2 times what I bought it for!!!

That was practically enough to finally finance a watch I've been jonesing for for years that I actually found at an AD. Welcome my new Bluesy 116613! To me, it was a really great move and I'm in love with my new sub! SELL WHAT YOU LIKE TO BUY WHAT YOU LOVE! Hope you like it!

Cheers!

congrats

a lot of people are too worried about resale value instead of getting what they really like which is what this hobby should be about

Sound advice and kudos - too often we get caught up with what we should be wearing, v. what we truly want to wear

No question that the modern watches are improved. People like the little things about the older ones. It sounds like you made a great choice for yourself and someone new will enjoy the GMT while your bluesy is enjoyed by you!

Congrat's on your Blusey! That is an awesome ROLEX.

It is now, "Sell what you like to buy what you love..."

Soon it will be, "Sell what you love to buy what you've only dreamt of..."

So true, especially these days with the lack of product and rising prices. I did take advantage of the wave but bought what I loved then and today. And now someone else will enjoy a 5 digit GMT which may be their grail watch. WIN WIN!

I don't see Rolex as an investment as much as a lifestyle! Cheers!

Grats on a beautiful watch, and thanks for the good advice. I'm having a similar struggle over my Tudor Big Block and you've helped me out.
