DavidSW uses gmail?

Hi all: i’m emailing back-and-forth with DavidSW staff members about an anticipated purchase. I noticed that the email addresses they use are gmail. For those that have had experience emailing with David SW, is that accurate? It seemed a Bit low brow for such a amazing, high-end seller and just wanted to be careful. Thanks for any info.

It is odd considering he could have an email at his domain for like $30 a year lol.

Excellent. Thank you very much. Thought I’d double check the email in light of all the hacking and scamming it’s going on by others!

Yes I get all off that and have no worries about DavidSW. This isn’t an inquiry about David’s legitimacy or trustworthiness. Rather, I wanted to ensure that he and his staff used gmail (ie, his account hadn’t been hacked) as I had expected domain emails in light of his exceptional, unquestionable reputation.

Always smart to be careful. Just too many scams out there in today's world.

Took me 2 emails & 2 calls to get ahold of you. I offered to drive the 2 hours to you, watch was sold & you said you would contact me if another one comes available. What's funny is a week later, you had the exact model I was looking for advertised on your site. No call, no email. Thank you & have a great evening.

What lame post dude. Commentary on DavidSW wasn’t the point of this string. He’s such a legit seller. You’ve obviously got very little experience buying. With under 50 posts here on TRF, great work popping on here and criticizing one of the indisputable great sellers, and on a post that wasn’t even about that — looking forward to your future posts!

I'm so sorry that my post isn't up to your standards. It is my attempted experience with a "trusted seller".
Lol. Thank you for the lesson. I'll look forward to your future posts also.

. Just didn’t want my post about simply gmail usage to be hijacked into a DavidSW critique (criticism) string, when he’s a beloved and honest and righteous seller in a risky world.

Fair post OP.

The fact DSW replied shows it’s not the first time and it provides good feedback for a retailer.

If I didn’t know of DSW already, I’d ask the question too.

I would never, in a hundred years, believed that a gmail address was indicative of a possible scam. I hope my aol email doesn't create a scam alert for someone.

If you’re doing $2.5 - $4.5(EST) a year in high risk transactions targeted by fraudsters, cloners, etc... I’d expect a private server and branded email. The fact DSW offers the option should validate the need he recognized, which is what a mature and successful business owner always scans for. I think the gmail is simply just easy and likely a grandfathered address so others can have sign in and the g-suite access. But that’s a guess and really nobody’s biz.

But think about it from a noobs perspective.

This is exactly right. Think about getting an email from john.tourneau@gmail.com. Or sally.wempe@gmail.com. Or Susie-Tiffany&Co@gmail.com. It’d be worth asking, “hey Wempe, do you use gmail?” Quite an obvious inquiry I think.

True story....
A douchebag business in my area who has been charged with being a public nuisance multiple times didn’t have a website or gmail address with their business name.

Oops.

So now I get multiple solicitation emails asking if I’m using the domain and gmail address per month with offers to buy said domain and email

Lol

I completely "get it"!! You go ahead and ask all the questions you wish!!
(and I agree that David SW is just about as reputable as you can get!!)

But, I've just been scammed by a guy (supposedly in NY) who quickly took my money and never sent me the bracelet.
I've learned a valuable lesson.

Will post details on separate thread, right now. . . .

yeah, got it — this string was over bro. Already got all the requisite confirmation, including from DavidSW, sent the money, bought the watch which is amazing, posted amazing feedback because DavidSW is legendarily trustworthy, etc.

This thread is both awesome and a sad example of all that’s wrong with forums.

Read the OP’s question again.

Read the responses again (before the moonshine was pouring)

Nobody questioned DSW’s integrity or the validity of his ability to close the loop on a sale.

The question was from a noob buyer about to drop some thousands of dollars on the interwebs without prior experience with DSW’s email handles.

The question was valid. Nobody questioned DSW’s rep personally.

Now, let’s all continue to praise the Oracle of Orlando.

Glad someone finally said it! Thanks CJ.

Not just this thread, but almost every other thread - No one reads the original question; or so many times, the responses have nothing to do with the reason for the post.
