Seiko turtle STO chapter ring issue

Well I bought this watch after spotting it in an AD with a sale on, so did not do my normal research.

Very impressed with the dial, comfort and timekeeping. I then read about date and bezel alignment issues on these watches and realised I had a good one.

Then I saw Fleetlord's post on here about his chapter alignment issue and checked mine. I had not previously noticed, but my chapter ring alignment was out. I told myself to ignore it, but as they say 'once seen......'.

I now realise this is a long standing issue with these, but have just sent it off to Seiko to see if they can help with sorting the issue. Will let you know how I get on.

Bang the 9 o'clock side into your hand to see if it moved back. There is a bit of play in the alignment notch.

Thanks for the tip, but it's just gone in the post.

I had sent Seiko an email with the above pic, which I hoped would make the issue clear to them, but they said I had to send it in for assessment.

a common problem with these Seikos...

Wow, you got me checking mine! These are notorious for that stuff. I got mine at Macy's and it's pretty much spot on, even though it doesn't look like the bezel is exactly in place. It lines up ok, but the bezel on this one is on the loose side and sometimes moves inadvertently... ring is fine...

Glad they got it sorted...but why do they need to?

Again...all that effort on the dial, but the chapter ring is crooked? Ship it out anyway!

Not possible on the newer ones. If I recall the chapter ring on this model has alignment pins.

On some older 6309's you could pull the crown out and move the chapter ring.

Absolutely!, Because Rolex would never ship watches with misaligned rehaut engravings... Oh ! wait........

Glad you got it sorted OP, it's a beautiful watch !

I also got mine at Macy’s on 34th St, my chapter ring and bezel are spot on also. We must have lucked out with a good batch here in NY.
