AP 15500ST grey dial vs sea dweller TT

Hi guys,
I already put in my deposit for the new 15500ST in grey dial. I think it is a stunning looking watch with a unique dial. Rolex’s new TT SD also caught my eye. Given the choice between the two, what would you choose? Also what do you think about value retention of both pieces. This watch will be for my wedding.

Rolex ... no doubt despite higher flexibility sport/dress use of AP; although gold upgrades it to the occasion wearing too. Two very different watches imo. What would probably matter is your wrist size ... due to the hefty ness of the TT SD at 42 mm.

AP but I’m biased that I don’t like TT watches and I purchased an AP 15400 as my wedding watch. As for value retention...the 15400 has just about doubled in value in the 6 years since I purchased it. Usually Rolex TT watches don’t do as well as their SS counterparts.

Forgive me if I am wrong but both these watches are going to be hard to get. When you placed the deposit on the AP did they give you any idea of when they may get one in? The same goes for the TT SD. If you want either one of those watches for your wedding, I would hold off on your wedding date, that potentially can only be planned around the availability of the watch!

Two radically different watches. I’d prefer the AP.

I’m not convinced that a SD in TT is going to be desirable long-term. Prior to the crazy, TT took an even bigger hit than full gold/platinum.

If you call off the wedding you can easily afford both. Is that an option?

there is little chance a TT Rolex will hold value better than a SS RO.

I prefer the TT Sea Dweller actually. Not a fan of the 15500. The 15400 is superior to the 15500.

Wedding is next year lol. I’ll get the AP at the end of this year. They told me they can get it to me in August and I asked them to delay it until November so that I can get it closer to the wedding . It’s hard for me to keep a watch like that waiting in a box for too long.

It's a really hard choice, on one hand I think RO is amazing and I actually like 15500 over 15400 which I already like. On the other hand, they got rid of the white dial which was my favorite. I do like TT though and if you want a larger TT Sub, TT SD is the way to go. I'd probably go for AP, still even grey dial.

AP without a doubt.

You are wasting more money on your wedding than you will lose on the watch.

I’d pick the AP all day over TT SD. The 15500 is a great piece with an engine tuned dial, no writing on the lower half of the dial, a properly fitting movement that fixes the date window placement issue w/ the 15400, which should be a given for a HH brand, and not to mention the finishing!

AP with no hesitation.

Two tones won’t retain the same value.

AP by a huge margin. I own and love watches from both brands, but AP is in a different league in terms of finishing and exclusivity. The SD43 is also not that versatile due to the size -- I owned one and sold it because it's big, thick, and heavy and overall just not that wearable. I'm also not a TT fan at all. As far as value retention, you'll do much better with the AP than a TT Rolex.
