Aussie muscle - Torana SS

Just wanted to show you guys , America was not the only country with muscle cars ;

Cousin just picked this up recently woo woo!

Just helping him flash his fast data logger using a windows 10 laptop , such a pain in the ass configuring the serial to USB adapter

but in the end was successful :)

No nitrous , naturally aspirated

Some Holden trivia-

Holden added a fuel "drop tank" -less pit stops at Bathurst meant a greater chance at victory ;)

the bolt on flares where also a factory option so Holden could bypass the rubber width problem , the inner wheel arches where cut to accomodate taller wider rubber

The biggest engine the factory ever put in these was the Holden 308, that was ditched in favour of a worked small block chev 350 ;)

A ford 9" diff with 31 splined axles was fitted

Love it. Bet that is a rush to drive. Hard to beat the sound of a full roller, high compression rat engine.

If you're in Melbourne there is a pristine purple XU1 on display in the RACV Club (Bourke Street) in the foyer, man it is drop dead gorgeous.

Nice to see these rides Kostas. Not many of that type to been seen up here in Australia's far North territories, although modern supercars aplenty recently - sat next to a McLaren 720S at the lights last week

Holy smokes!

Hey, if it counts for anything, I just bought a Chevrolet SS (USA) which is really a Holden Commodore. Ultimate sleeper in this country...

I don't know what the camera did (or how) but the rear wheel isn't really tucked-in like that.

I like the us converted holdens , and yours looks great.

The mistake that Holden / GM made when first launching the Monaro in the states is calling it a "GTO" , arguably the most revered muscle car name in the states.

No matter how good the car was it brushed a lot of old timers the wrong way , and justifiably so.

That's like them importing an impala / Grand Prix and calling it a Torana or Monaro - there would be outrage , and guess what those older people that revered those cars are exactly the same people that could afford to buy it .

"Overgrown cavalier" where some of the comments bandied back then .

Then they introduced the Pontiac G8 but only limited to auto

And finally the Chevy ss , this is the last of the breed , and a very nice example ! Congrats!
