Can a 3035 dial fit a 1570 movement Datejust
Quick background:
I have a solid 18k yg 1601 Datejust and I just found an original lapis lazuli datejust dial in perfect condition. That is one of my grail pieces... Always wanted a lapis dial. I found someone to make one but it's not an original Rolex dial like this. Looking at the feet on the back of the dial look like it came from a 16018 quickset datejust. My question is it as simple as unscrewing the feet off the back of the dial and replacing them with dial dots or laser weld them where I need them to be? There's a height difference between the two... I believe the 3035 is about 4mm thicker Any recommendations? |

You could remove the dial feet (not unscrew, but saw, grind, or file off) and replace with dial dots. Laser welding or soldering new dial feet without damaging the dial is non-trivial, which is why people usually don't try it.
Removing the dial feet will also devalue the dial. Have you considered buying a 16018 with a bad or aftermarket dial?

No won't fit. Don't do that. You'll destroy the value of the orginal dial.
Those dials are also very brittle. I'd buy 16018....and sell the 1601. |
