1675 rootbeer nipple dial - LEGIT CHECK?
Hey everyone,
I am considering pulling the trigger on this 1675 nipple dial rootbeer. From what I can tell, everything looks like it is legit. However, I am by no means an expert, so I wanted to get a few extra opinions before I take the plunge. All comments, concerns, or anything in between would be very helpful. I want to mitigate all risk if possible! Many thanks in advance. Cheers |

It looks authentic to me but rode hard. Chunk out of underside lug. Lume missing on minute hand. Chunks missing from bezel. Dial stains. Somebody had fun with this watch.

The lume is damaged on the minute hand, the case has definitely been over-polished, and shows very intense pitting around the seals and hidden areas, and the movement even from my very untrained eye looks dirty and definitely in need of a service, even the lume nipples on the dial are not in good condition. And what is going on with the case back!! I have a 3.24 mil, which has also seen a lot of wear. I suppose it really depends on the price and what your intentions are.
EDIT: Even looking from the back of the case it's way over polished. The case back pitting doesn't seem to match the mid case either, which I would think should have similar pitting. Beyond that the area at 12:00 with the model number is very pitted too. Maybe you should post the price and ask the real experts if its worth the investment. Actually I wouldn't call this an investment either… Sorry. EDIT 2: I forgot to ask. Does this come with a bracelet, which could set you back 2-3K? Not that it would matter. Just, no. |

I have one, exactly like that, obtained from the great guys at Craft&Tailored in L.A., and it rests mostly on my beautiful wife's wrist . . . (Very frustrating that it gets more comments from watch-lovers than anything I wear, whether it's my 5512 or a modern Batgirl!). Thanks for the listing. And yes, there's lots of fabulous dealers out there! (Though, I just got burned by a Private Seller on Chrono24 - see my new thread on the Watch Out! section)

A first-class guy, to be sure...... and I wish him the BEST in his new venture!! I'm personally not that interested in the dials that look THAT "patina'd". I love the dark lumes and hands, but not the dial being quite that degenerated. We've all got our limits (it's a personal thing, of course...), but that's past mine. Enjoy your weekend, Sir!
