It's always been a great mystery to me why Rolex stopped this particular dial.

Yep...it’s a beauty alright. Mines the slightly later dial, with the finer frosted finish to the earlier course grain dial you seem to have there and it sparkles beautifully in the sunlight.

Agreed.

I hope they'll make one like this again some day.

Beautiful dial, if it is solid platinum why do the laser markings look brass underneath.

Hi John, I think it’s the light and the way the laser burn the platinum. But excellent question?

Nice dial. Would love to see it on the watch when it's installed.

Looks beautiful!

Bas, not sure if this the right place to ask - what is the most challenging tasks related to the dial removal and assembly? I always imagined is removing and then fitting the hands - as they are easy to be bent and damaged.

I've read somewhere that these tasks almost always leave marks either on the hands or on the dial - is this yet another urban myth? Thanks!

Thats one of Rolex's badasses dials, such a shame they stopped it, 100% official platinum, you got your money's worth for sure. The first time I took note of this watch was when JJ bought his. He sure loved it and for good reason.
Thanks for posting Bas.

It's not the hardest but definitely a task that you need to fully concentrate on.

Damaging the dial is unnecessary and completely preventable in most cases. Sometimes the hands get damaged because their fitted too tight, not much you can do about that.

Very nice dial and thanks for sharing, Bas.

- As it is stamped 950, are the lume plots also Platinum (usually whitegold)?

- The shown dial looks like a cap while other dials are just flat. Have they hollowed the dial out to save material (which would mean that the dial itself without the rim would be much thinner than a normal Rolex dial)?

Random question ie I remember from my engineering days that we never touched certain surfaces with bare fingers as it could cause a chemical reaction, there was an actual saying for this which I can’t remember.

The lume plots are indeed white gold, not platinum.
It is a dial that clicks onto the movement instead of using dial feet, common in Rolex ladies models and the new 3235 dials.

I am wearing finger condoms, take a closer look would never touch a dial with my bare hands.

Oh ok, never noticed the protection, I’d better get some stronger glasses.
