These watches are all over 50 years old and if they were worn on a regular basis then they will not be perfect, as in new old stock condition. They do have a particular allure though as a previous poster mentioned. I have a gilt 5513 that is far from perfect, it was used professionally in the first place and has a fat but fairly marked case but it’s got a fabulously glossy dial and beautiful lettering which is the main attribute of appeal for me. I think it’s always worth keeping in mind what these watches were intended for and therefore how they were originally worn, whether professionally or recreationally.

Love my 5513 Gilt (1965) - very understated and only a few people ever notice it

I love old and new.
Gilt is in the eye of the beholder, but I never get tired of the views from any angle.

Some may be off put by one's dial resembling the moon surface, but not me..

Gilt is way better?

Personal preference as Matte dial is nice while Gilt dial has magic

Black gilts probably display more of the magic but brown ones are pretty too! Very different looking than matte tropicals.

Good gilt aren’t easy to find. Assuming comparable condition, closed chapter are typically less glossy than open chapter. Light plays a major role in how these dials appear and mirror properties they have unique from matte, such as hand color reflection off the dial.
