Incoming! Big Impulse Purchase

The other day I received a text that a watch had become available and was fresh in from service. I was not in the market for a Smurf, but to say that I’ve always been drawn to it is an understatement. I did not know that it was previously made with factory diamond hour markers, and I simply couldn’t resist. The AD was closing up in 30 minutes and I said I had to think about it, but would have an answer in the morning. I texted and the watch had been sold by the Rolex Ambassador. Needless to say I was bummed! Only to find out later that day that the sale fell through because the poor chaps wife was not thrilled with the purchase. I said box her up and couldn’t be happier with how it looks in the metal. Seems quite a bit heavier than my 116508.

Curious if anyone else on TRF has this reference or knows anything about it?

Posted an incoming on my IG @AWatchOdyssey, follow me for a follow back watch fam.

Impulse? This is a strike of luck.
Already this reference is so unique with that blue but this is something else with diamonds markers.
I love how subtle the markers look compared to other diamond models.
One got to look closer to realize markers are diamonds.
Congrats.

Wow -- so if the standard model is called the Smurf, does the diamond marker version get elevated to King Smurf? Royal Smurf? Congrats, and wear in the best of health!

On the weight side of things I have to agree that it makes all the rest feel light (including some other PM pieces!)

Thanks mate, it is cool to have a somewhat rarer piece. Feels unique and nice to know the factory isn’t still cranking these out.
