rolex seems tiny after panerai

As you may have seen from my previous threads yesterday I bought a sub non date to go with my 44mm panerai luminor.
The sub just seems TINY and although I love it I have to say it is a complete readjustment process. At times I feel like I am wearing a ladys watch!
Having said that I do like the contrast but it feels weird at times
Has anyone else experienced this ?
Best regards Jan

To me, Panerai 44mm is just too big. I had a PAM 196 Daylight Chrono, I ended up trading it. The 40mm is nice, however, I found the Rolex watches are lighter, and therefore more comfortable in the long run. IMHO.

I think a Pammy may be good to add to my collection one day, but not to use as a daily wearer. They are very nice.

Same thing but different:

I wore my Speedy for the first time recenty, after wearing my GMT straight for almost three months. The speedy looked huge!

Somebody said it above...rolex is rolex. It's the reference point. All other watches either look big or small comapred to it,not the other way around.

I agree. After wearing a Seamaster for 5yrs and finally putting on my new Sub this morning, I found myself thinking, this could be slightly bigger and heavier. I like substance....but I'm not complaining.

just trying them on at the store is a shock; when i put my daytona back on, i wondered why it shrunk so much.....

its kind of like the computer monitor. that new one always looks so BIG, then you use it a while and it seems to shrink....

I'll use my car analogy, it usually works...Sometimes, it is nice to zip around in my BMW and other times it is nice to go 4X4 in my Tahoe. The same holds true with watches. Some days it is my Subs and other days it is my 45mm Breitling Emergency. Big and bigger...

I can't wait to get the DSSD, but somehow I am afraid it will my my current SD look small.

My AD tried it on, though, and stated that it does not look too large on his wrist since the case lugs follow the curve of the wrist nicely.

I have a feeling the DSSD is going to be THE rolex sports watch all ohers will be judged by in the future and the size in particular will set the trend for all other sports models.
Willthis appetite for size be permanent? Will rolex be able (and should they?)resist the demand for BIG??

With the utmost respect i dont get why size is such a big issue.

You get a 44mm casio also... that doesnt make it a better watch then a rolex.

On the converse, Pateks 34mm tourbillion repeater blows away everything in my books.

I guess its all about how it smiles to you, how it fits and what value we ascribe.

Why need a big watch? It looks like a clock on wrist. Furthermore it is difficult to slip it in your long sleeve.

My sentiments exactly. There's a guy in my class with a ridiculous watch, probably quartz but that's not the problem LOL..

It's probably nearing 50mm...looks like a side plate attached to his wrist. RIDICULOUS

At Baselworld, there were many folks in long sleeves and french cuffs with 41mm+ watches, all bulging out/causing the cuffs to ride up...looked again silly IMHO.

I like some stealth, thank you!

Exactly! I have sub's and pannies....I agree..after wearing a Panerai..my sub felt small (er). But if you are constantly switching wrist times....you get used to it. Now...it's all about the mood I'm in..and what I'm wearing..or where I'm going. If I know I'm going somewhere where there's going to be alot of guys wearing Rolex...I'll wear the Pam...just to be a bit different.

No problem here...

Midsize YM

I switch back and forth, no problem.

Radiomir base 210

I think the weight of the platinum helps with the balance.

I hear ya! I shuffled a B & R to get my 210. The B & R just did not sing to me like my YM or the 210.

I got rid of my A series Panerai 44mm Sub to go back to a 40mm Yacht Master. I was quite shocked at the difference in size & thought I would'nt adjust. I think the YM having a maxi dial helps in giving the illusion of a bigger presence.

I've seen pics of me wearing the Panerai & it just looks too big IMO. I can't wait to see some wrist shots & some shots "in the wild" of the DSSD.

At 51, my aging eyes appreciate my GO (44mm) and PAM (45mm). I can still see the time with both my SD and Exp II, but just not quite as easily.

I love my Panerai, but Rolex....well, Rolex is a watch like no other. So sturdy, so reliable, so accurate, so.....classy. No, as much as I love Panerai, Rolex is the brand that really sings to me. Now if I could only talk my wife into that meteorite dial Daytona on a black leather band.......
