BLNR vs RG YM40 as daily
Just curious what you would prefer to wear daily, can take price out of the equation mostly looking for versatility and comfort comparisons
Smart casual to casual dress, no suits unless a wedding I already own a BLNR but love the RG YM, can't have both ATM GO! |

I recently picked up a RG YM. It is BY FAR the most comfortable Rolex I've ever owned. I've owned a SS GMTIIC and there is no comparison IMHO. I would vote to have both, but if you can't swing both, and want the most comfortable Rolex, I'd go with the RG YM.

My vote is for the BLNR; however, that means really nothing as I've never had any experience, not even trying it on, with the YM.
I understand YM owners are very pleased with its comfort and durability, but sadly I've never even seen one. |

For wearing comfort it has to be the YM 116655 oysterflex, the YM case and lighter weight.
As a daily that depends on what you do, the bezel scratches easily and will look like crap in no time if you are doing hands on work, like construction.

The YM would be more comfortable due to the profile and curvature of the case imo.....much like a Daytona. Very flexible piece both ways but complication wise the BLNR of course wins. If you already have the BLNR And can't have both, I vote to stay with the BLNR....very versatile piece that fits your description of use.

Either can be worn daily, the BLNR will be further under the radar. Up to you!

I can't say for sure as I've never seen either in person or worn them but if the choice were mine I think I'd go with the YM.

I think the BLNR would be my choice, I prefer SS in most circumstances.
To me, Rubber bands are for more casual and therefore can't be dressed up as well. (take this with a grain of salt because my fashion sense is horrible.) |

Interesting question as I have a BLNR and am thinking about a 116655. I tried the YM and it is very comfortable, lighter than all gold with the Oyster Flex.
I have not heard of the bezel scratching, but then there are not that many in circulation. The YM is not immediately recognizable as a Rolex due to the rubber as well, where the GMT is, pcl or not.

If only one, I would vote BLNR...
Just more versatile. Close call though, because personally I would love having both. |

Hard to argue with that, plus you get some nice PM on your wrist.

Have you given any thought to this one:
116621 Yacht master SS/18K Rose Gold I have a BLNR (first Rolex) but this is one I tried on and it is quite striking in person. of the 2 your debating I would personally stick with the BLNR. if it was the 116621 It would get me thinking |

In general I would say SS over gold for daily wear, but the RG YM is definitely the only gold watch which might pass for true potential daily wear. The black strap and bezel reduce the amount of gold visible and the rubber would at least for me be the preferred strap for daily wear.
I would say the conservative answer is a BLNR, but i love the RG YM more and think it could easily be worn daily, so yea, I would go for it. |

The RG YM is a beautiful watch. I haven't seen one in person, but the pics on TRF are enough for me.
Had I the $$$ it would be my one-and-only. |

RG YM is just incredible.
But it is not as versatile as I'd like. For me and my lifestyle. It's very subjective. But again, for me, for a daily, I'd go BLNR. However, I far prefer the YM. Far far prefer.

Depends on your age Wayne and what you like to do. You could get away with the DD40 in Calgary as a daily, no question.
