Thoughts on JLC Master Perpetual Calendar

Title says it all.
Looking to add a PC to my collection.
Patek is not in the budget. My AD showed me the JLC in steel with black dial. Very impressive watch in a sub 20k (discount) price range.

Never owned a JLC. I saw their warranty was just extended to 8 years, which I’d consider an added bonus. Thoughts on the brand? The actual time piece? Any owners out there?

Current collection includes a few Rolex/Tudor divers, PP aquanaut, AP ROO and a few Grand Seiko. Most complicated watches now are my chronographs and GMTs.

Thanks

It’s a gorgeous piece. I tried one on in rose gold last weekend and was amazed by the fit and finish. In my opinion there is no better value for a complication.

Steel PC is probably the best JLC offering right now. As has been said, it’s the pinnacle of value. If you want a PC without breaking the bank, this is a no brainer, get it. Steel is more “interesting” as the best movement for money but PM are also very beautiful.
As a brand? It’s lagging due to the sports watch craze. Also, they are expected to play second fiddle to Vacheron who is having trouble themselves. JLC is more and more of a consumer brand with complicated offerings, compared to PP and AP which are luxury. But I really like both JLC and VC so hope they can turn it around. 8 years warranty? That’s wild!

Plays a role in the Marvel Dr. Strange movie. Pound for pound, one of the best values and a really handsome piece. I like it.

It’s a gorgeous watch, and a very good value for such a well made and finished PC from a historical brand.

Not to steer you away from the JLC, but at least on the secondary market, and perhaps new with a big discount there are a few other options to consider. Take a look at IWC and Glashutte Original.

The GO Senator Perpetual can be had in Rose Gold for under $20k used, and the steel for under $10k, super value and very nicely made watch that you won’t see very often.

Great value for money for sure.

I used to have the Master Grand Reveil with the Alarm. Great watch.

Thank you all for your comments. I had not yet studied up on the GO perpetual calendar. Case size is the biggest difference I see between the two, with the GO at 42mm. I have a local AD so I will swing by and check them out.

If anyone has either the GO or JLC, wrist shots, please!

As a one and only "strap watch" yes!

At the moment I have a master moon white dial and would love to upgrade to the PC black dial.

JLC history is hard to beat, finishing is very good for the price point and mine has been very reliable. A little expensive and a long wait for service but overall a piece I like wearing.

Quick strap change can dress it up or down.

Cons:
It's a PC, would you keep it on a winder?

+1 for the MUTP or the GO Senator Perpetual.

I like the IWC Portuguese Perpetual but it wears too big on my slim wrists.

The MUTP is a beautiful watch.

FYI - The white gold, silver dial now discontinued version is actually the one from the Dr Strange movie and not the steel one as commonly misconstrued. You can see that in the darker dial markers.

Keep us posted!

A very efficient layout and at a great price point, esp in SS.

Yes, winder is a must I feel like with a PC and with my watch rotation it would definitely reside on a winder during down time. Going to see it in person again today. Keep you all posted!

Well, I went and saw the JLC again in person and that did the trick. Had to have it.

Beautiful watch. Clean dial for a PC. It wears well.

The stainless PC with a black dial is a killer watch. Takuya has one right now for an amazing price too. Tough to beat the value for money that watch offers.

Yes saw that one on his site. Was able to get my AD close so that made it sweeter.

Thanks for the compliments. It’s a stunner.

I would also look at IWC, you can get nice discount on them. There are some Portugieser and Big Pilot options for you.

Sweet watch. It feels like JLC is super underrated. I have a steel moonphase ultra thin, it's great with suits.
