I know this is an old(er) thread, but between the OP39 & the SBGA211, I'd take the Snowflake. There's something magical about the dial & the Spring Drive movement is a modern marvel.

So let me get this straight; you took the majority of the metal off your Rolex, then weighed it, and want to compare it to a titanium watch? Have I got that right?

Grand Seiko makes the better watch. Facts.
That being said. White dial OP39 for me.

Both are wonderful choices and deservedly popular. I prefer the way the Rolex sits on my wrist, it's proportions and generally slimmer feel.

After considering both these watches as a general everyday piece, I ended up going with a 39mm Explorer which shares a case design with the OP39.

The problem for me with the Snowflake is mainly the size and design. I don't like the power reserve, the date at 3, very asymmetrical, and not pleasing to the eye dial. However, I love the steel blued second hand sweep and the gorgeous snowflake white dial.

I would def choose the OP because it's the perfect size for my wrist (6.75"), perfect thickness, robustness with brushed oyster bracelet, understated dial, gorgeous symmetrical, classic, timeless design.

While I appreciate the craftsmanship of GS they just don't hit a note with me. The Snowflake is one of their more appealing models but the OP39 would be my choice without the slightest hesitation.

GS Snowflake all day long compared to the Rolex OP, IMO.

Had snowflake. Just wasn’t a satisfying watch for some odd reason. GS has so much potential to be great, but they just didn’t feel special despite the fact that in theory they are very special.

OP is unreal. Especially the white. It is almost a perfect watch (if your into the understated simplicity). The black is also wonderful and the other variations have a ton of personality. The bracelet is of course the bottom of the Rolex line, but that doesn’t make it bad. It is leagues ahead of GS snowflake.

I would take OP all day.

All my watches have no date. Therefore of the two chosen it is an easy choice for me. OP all the way.

GS by a hair. No lume is big minus, but the power reserve got me over to GS camp.

I have 5 Rolexes and love them but am picking up a Grand Seiko spring drive watch today in stainless. The Grand Seiko's are amazing watches.
