This was also my 30th birthday watch from an AD in the fall of 2017. Congratulations I think you'll love it.

Congrats, that’s a great choice for a milestone watch. There’s just something about it on the wrist. I know there are others that are more popular but it’s my favorite 6 digit Rolex, and I’ve worn most of the SS models.

I've posted in this thread before but here's a newer picture of my 116600

It was purchased BNIB in Feb 2015 from Takuya, and it's still my favorite in my humble collection

Anyone try an Erikas’s Originals strap on their 116600? Pics? Also known as MN Straps. I have a few of these on other watches and they are really comfortable.

Considering this because I still haven’t gotten bracelet to fit comfortably yet. I’m overly cautious about changing/sizing the bracelet because of the posts (true or not) about spring at failure, wrong springboard, screwdriver type and size for bracelet, use of red loctite etc.

I find the Erika’s strap a bit too thin and a little tedious to lock the hook. Seems safer on the watch in the event of a springbar failure though

I remember when the 116600 and I first met. I could not contain myself I was so excited for this blend of old school and new school. The updates were so well done and if you ever sported any of the older versions you were at least interested. I was recently a new home owner when this watch was introduced and with a new home and a 1 year old. It was impossible to pony up for one. I blinked and it was over. no longer an option. I was not without hope as I was already a member here from previous watches. A V serial Sea Dweller and a Plat. Yacht-Master. I knew of our Trusted sellers and this forum was always a joy to visit. Both previous watches were sold because...life happens. I always knew I had a chance at a 116600 thanks to TRF.

Fast forward today; Ill skip a bunch of details and jump to it. I finally can post in this thread. I am an owner. I picked it up from Takuya and it is minty. dated 2017. Say what you will about the 50th anniversary. My SD4K is dated May of 2017 (2017-1967=50) Anyway, lots of warranty remaining. This watch is even better than when I first held one in 2015. Maybe because its mine.

Here are some things I love and make our 116600 a possible candidate for a "must" to a rolex collector, or just a regular guy - like me. Wanting to wear awesome on my wrist.

1. The 3135 - This alone makes this an all time watch to me.
2. The traditional design (classic) The case, the dial. everything just says ROLEX
3. The streamlined and symmetrical look, AKA - No Cyclops
4. The Bezel
5. HEV. We may not need it. But it is an engineering feat and I own it.
6. Glide-lock and of course the bracelet - Perfection
7. Triplock crown and those 5 insulators. Its like opening a submarine hatch when you unscrew it to adjust.
6.It is the LAST Sea Dweller. No offense to the SD43. It is beautiful. But it is not in lines with traditional. The size and the Cyclops really changes into something different. Id love to own one. But for me.... SD4K is the Grail I have been dreaming of. Happy to say I am finally here.

Also my favorite watch by far. Can’t wait to get one. Speaking of which, they are not easy to find in great condition. If anyone can recommend a place, let me know.

Have you removed the diver's extension? Usually that will make the bracelet more comfortable on its own. No different process than removing links from what i can remember. I removed myself right after I received mine in 2016.

Thanks, my wrist is 7 inch. but the watch had a little overhang as I hadn't removed the divers extension yet.

Yes I have removed the diver's extension. I'm very hot and cold on this watch...sometimes I love it and sometimes I wonder. Thanks for the suggestion.

Still under the radar but in time these will shine very bright. Why would anyone buy a super case GMT or Hulk instead of one of these? Suppose it come down to taste and social media?
