Would You Trade?

I have a black GMT that I wear every day and a Breitling Bentley Mark VI. The Breitling was my daily wearer before I got the GMT (even though I’ve never owned a Bentley) but now it sits in the safe. I love both but have the opportunity to trade both for the DEEP SEA James Cameron BNIB. I love the size, the blue face and the clasp. It’s not one I lay awake dreaming about at night but I have always thought it would be a cool piece to have.

I’m debating if I should go down to one watch since I barely ever wear the Breitling. I think it would almost be an even trade. I might have to add a little cash. I still would have the Tag but that’s really just for use as a beater so the DEEP SEA would be my whole collection

For me, I'd most certainly keep the GMT and sell both the Tag and Breitling to partially fund something else.

I wish that were in the cards. That’s a great thought though. I couldn’t really get anything for the Tag, maybe $300. The Breitling I could possibly get $4500 (guessing). Anything I want would be and extra $10k. We have some big household repairs coming up so adding much cash on my end won’t be happening in the near future.

The GMT (haven’t got one, having joined the party late) I wouldn’t let go unless you find something that you like more. On the other hand the Breitling you're ready to sell that one

I'd ditch the tag and Breitling plus some cash if you really want the JC. It's a lot of heft for a daily wearer and I think the GMT is one of the greatest all around daily watches. I wouldn't want to let go of a stainless GMT on oyster of any kind right now. The GMT/JC combo would be awesome though. Two very different watches.

Let's say you get $4k to sell the T-H & the Breitling. Can you use half of it for home repairs & put the other $2k to work (invest) to get something in the future? I feel that if I had the GMT2, I wouldn't wear either the T-H or the Breitling. I think I'd rather be a one-great-watch guy versus having 3, 2 of which rarely get worn.

IDK man, it's a bit of a predicament. I would not trade the GMT2 & Breitling for a DSSD, though, that's for sure.

Trade the lot......
I wear only the Deepsea and everything else I could even sell it
but there are those who prefer to have so many pieces to change......

I find quite often on TRF, you get the best advice in the very first reply. This thread is no exception.

I get it - oh, the many perks of home ownership! We're up for some remodeling too, and every time I see the estimates come in, I translate the amount to how many watches (and other unmentionables) I could've bought instead.

The good thing is, your GMT is super versatile, and has a date/gmt function to boot. Definitely a keeper in my book. If only I can decide between this and the EXPII - but that is a separate thread altogether.

I couldn’t wear the Deep Sea as a one and only, so if your only option is to trade the lot, I’d say no.

As others have said, I would keep the LN and sell the other two and save for the DS down the road.

Get what you love, get rid of anything you do not love. That is what I always do. IMHO the GMT seems like the perfect watch, and if you enjoy it now you will continue to do so with or without the DSSD.

The DSSD is large and in charge, so you have to make sure you are OK with wearing that every single day. I suggest trying one on somehow and ensuring the size is right for you.

That GMT is not just a great reference, but a continued reference. And with a green GMT hand, an anniversary reference. KEEP IT!

Do the trade if you don't like the GMT any longer. Else, don't do it especially considering you're not mad about the JC.
