I prefer the no date... still waiting to see one at the AD.

Agree.

Also think of the profile view of the watch face which you will often see. The sub has a small bit that sticks up on the bezel at the zero position. The cyclops eye makes the watch face look asymmetrical in profile but is something I always thought of when dreaming of a Rolex so got the sub date myself.

Being your first Rolex, you may (like I did) quite fancy having the cyclops lens that comes with a date as this is one of the primary identifying aspects of the Rolex brand. So if you want people to know you're wearing one, you might prefer such.
However, I wore date models for 20 years and rarely made use of the function. Just this week I lucked out with a 114060 and absolutely adore it - I'll never go back to a date now.

I like the clean look of the no date, but I really prefer having the date feature and the distinctive flair and utility of the cyclops.

Help me decide: Rolex Submariner Date or No Date

Date. I had both. Bought a 114060 and loved it but... I always tried on the date in watch shops and had to tell my self “simple cleaner dial, more of a classic, blah blah” to justify my watch. All valid points and a lot of personal preference but I now have date and it is my perfect watch. Much more enjoyable!

To me the 14060 is a masterpiece but 6dig ND felt incomplete. Not sure why, just love the ceramic date version.

Edit: responding to a 2 year old post. FML!

Sub date no date is a great choice, especially if you prefer the even aestetic of having the same hour markers at 3, 6, and 9 o'clock.

Had both, and sold off the date version and still have the original. There's something special about it. Maybe I have OCD, but it's clean and wears great. The cyclops never bothered me on my GMT, however there was just something about the sub date that did not mesh well with me. Either are great. Try them both if you can find one.

Both are beautiful. I have a no date, but I think the cyclops on the date model is cool. A Rolex original. I think you will be happy either way. When I told my AD I wanted a Sub she asked date or no date? I told her either one. The no date came in so that’s what I bought. Love it tons and if I need to know the date, I look at my iPhone. LOL

Depends on your collection. If it's a one and only I'd go date however if it's an add I'd go ND.

Nothing cleaner than a no date IMO.

The best bet is one of each, which you’ll probably end up with eventually. I’ve come round to realising that ND (two liner) is my preferred watch as it’s clean, symmetrical, easy to set and uncluttered. Having said that, if it was first one I probably would’ve felt that I was missing out by not having the date.

The short is answer is you can’t go wrong either way and you can always swap or add later so don’t sweat it too much.
