I might go for one if the case was spectacular and the movement inexpensively replaceable. The cost of my last service was more than I paid for my watch. But I am not a purest that embraces the intricacies of an automatic movement.

The OQ case and bracelet but with auto movement. OQ bracelet with glidelock and the OQ case in 40mm.

There are quite a lot of mechanical parts in the OQ the drive train is from the cal 3035 so apart from not having the escapement and mainspring the rest is mainly mechanical

Heck yeah. Quartz movements can be amazing, and if they kept the OQ case shape I'd be all in.

Just out of curiosity, would those interested in a new Rolex quartz be interested in a Rolex with smart watch features?
Also, would there be interest in a Rolex with a 'Spring Drive'-like movement? Quartz precision without the battery? If not, why not? |

I like the case and bracelet design but not interested in a battery in my "mechanical" watch.
I can't see me spending $6-10k on a battery powered or electric watch. |

I'd be mildly interested, mainly for the wife. Her big hangup with Rolex or any other automatic is that it dies, and she doesn't want to bother with winding and setting it (but I thought that's what husbands were for).
For that reason, she's very fond of Omega and Seiko. |

I'd like to see it in Tudor at a more friendly price point.
I think Rolex is heading in another direction, and I don't see them bringing out an OQ at this stage. |

As usual there is the usual pile of misinformation Peter.
I have seven Seiko watches. But none are from 1988 and still run like my OQ. Time to post facts not fiction.

I would certainly take a look if it were to be relaunched, why not, it would be an over engineered Rolex, and built to last.

Agreed. Love the look. Do not want a new quartz however.

I think I'll be interested if Rolex releases a modern version of the OQ since I'm a fan.
According to this website here: http://www.oysterquartz.net/the_oysterquartz_pc.htm Rolex does have the new movements available and ready for release in the early 2000s at least it seemed that way. So, people like my dad would want to buy it. He is a simple guy and he just doesn't like to wind watch but simply pickup the watch in the morning and wear it. He currently has my OQ 17000 and I would totally buy him the OQ DD in a modern version. Here is my 2019 Baselworld prediction - 1. Rolex to bring out 39mm Sub no date (for me) 2. Rolex to revive the OQ (for dad) Thanks Rolex!!! Sam

I also like the edgy look but would skip the quartz

I do quite like them.. but that's largely due to the vintage appeal. I'd much rather buy a vintage one compared to any sort of remake.

If they started growing their own crystals and could do a +/- 5 sec/year accuracy like GS than I would be interested, but in the meantime I will keep buying GS 9Fs.

Update for sure. In the market now for a vintage blue dial 17014 or 17000. Love the integrated bracelet!
