Do COMEX still buy from Rolex and supply them to their divers?

Thanks for taking the time to post this Peter.

Question: Why did Rolex and Doxa share the patent?…vs. one or the other filing for their own respective company?

Thanks - very knowledgeable and well distilled. I chose my Rolex partly because it had a move aviation history behind it.

It's a great read Peter, but I can't resist.
For movie buffs, Dr. Szell (you mention the Zell Brothers jewelers) was the dentist that tortured Dustin Hoffman by drilling thru his tooth in Marathon Man,
all the time asking...…….……..

Is it safe?

Please forgive me.

Well we have some real rare Rolex watches on forum instead of the modern day so called rare Rolex watches.

In the early 80s, this COMEX diver bought his SD 1665 from COMEX themselves. It wasn't given for free (79% discount though).

Nice writeup!

As more of a true WIS and engineer, I love the history behind the technology developments that led the engineering of these iconic diver watches all the way from the 1970's, i.e. how they solved the issues with saturated diving and diver watches. These are my favourite iconic diver watches:

- Rolex Sea Dweller
- Doxa Sub300T Conquistador
- Omega Plopro
- Seiko Tuna 600m

If you read about them you will see how Seiko and Omega took different routes instead of the HEV.
