Vintage Rolex boxes

Anyone know of a good reference for info re: vintage Rolex boxes? I'm thinking of getting a box for my '69 sub but I'm not sure if that would be the "coffin" top box with the inner slash card, or the later flat-top box with the C-shaped bendable watch support. Any help would be appreciated. Thanks!

Just realized that coffin-top may not be the correct term. I'm referring to the boxes with the faceted top from the 60s.

I have one for my 69 Red Sub--both outer and inner from original owner. When I am up to it--will take pics and email to you. Shoot me your email via pm.

Thanks, PM sent. Also, maybe a good idea to share the pics with the group? Just a thought.

I'm keen to see what 1680 boxes are meant to look like too, currently I've got a weird buckle-top DayDate box for mine which is definitely wrong.

Yes, thanks. I did poke around on that site. It gives you a general idea of which boxes were used in what decade. I was just wondering if there was a site out there that was more specific on the years. Maybe not though.

I suppose we could figure out this information if people with original boxes (like Steelers) posted pics of their boxes along with the dates (as determined by the watch serial number). Maybe this would be a good TRF project. We could probably piece together a pretty good history of boxes if enough folks participated. Thoughts out there? If others think it's worthwhile, I can start a new thread.

Thanks Steeler. Do you have a pic of the top of the inner box?

Oh, okay. Is it a flat top or raised, faceted top? That's the main thing I'm trying to determine. Thanks.
