Can anyone ID this watch?
Hi guys,
Hoping one of you Omega experts can ID this for me and tell me if it is a real watch. It is my dad's, and yes he is still with us and no, I didn't inherit it etc. Knowing that I'm into Rolex and MB etc, he asked me whether it was worth getting serviced. But looking at it, although I don't know much about Omega watches, I'm not even convinced it is genuine... Thoughts appreciated... |

looks legit to me but I cant exactly date it...I have seen many vintage ones like these, I think the seamaster got this shape from the constellation 'c' of the same era...I would sure get it serviced and working atleast as it is a good vintage piece

Thanks Asad,
My mum bought it for him around 30 to 35 years ago I would think. He still has the original box that it came in which is red and rectangular in shape, about 5" long and 1.5" wide. But there are no serial numbers anywhere...is this normal for a watch of this age? As visible in the photos, the plating on the band looks like it is 'bubbling' in places for want of a better term... Should have mentioned that it appears to be working fine, but haven't yet checked it for accuracy or for how long it holds its charge... cheers, Ian |

Ian the lack of serial no is ok as at that time the serial markings were inside the back cover...open up the back and you will find the markings inside :)...and yes, this is only gold plating if I am not mistaken hence the plating might flake off in places but for a vintage piece I think that adds character :)..hopefully someone more learned in vintage Omegas will shed more light on this topic :)..oh, and something that would really please you to know is that this shape and design, as I said earlier, is more common in the constellations of the time, called the constellation 'c', and that was designed by the legendary Gerald Genta, designer of the AP RO, PP Nautilus and many other legendary designs, so I hope you feel better about your watch now, additionally to your great family affiliation/connection with it

Looks like a late 60's early 70's Seamaster judgeing from the shape of the case. A watch maker can date it from the movement number once opened up. The emblem on the back is in nice shape, alot of them got very worn looking. Find a local guy who will give that baby the spa treatment. It's a nice watch.
