Looking for first Panerai
I have gotten the itch the last few months to get another watch. I currently own a SubC and a white dial Daytona, so I am looking for something with a completely different look and feel. I stopped in a few shops while I was in Europe recently and looked at some Panerai watches and I continue to migrate to the PAM00312. I want something that has the date and no cyclops and something bigger than what I have now. I also don't want a steel band. I found one in a AD in Germany for 5900 euro. What they told me in the store is that when I go to the airport I can get like 14% back for VAT (so around 810 euro back) or I can take watch home with me and come back another visit and get 19% back from the store. One of my questions is if I buy oversees and come back in to the US, how much will I owe in customs?
Any thoughts on the 312 or also any thoughts on the price of the watch and customs? Thanks for any help.

312 is great. I found it a little top heavy, and went with the 351 (titanium--much lighter, but same size).
Let us know what you decide. |

But here is what you need to study to know your rights. http://www.usitc.gov/publications/do...er/1210c91.pdf Not an easy read, but you need to know your rights. I've heard of people going through customs and the guys charge nearly nothing and others that were overzealous. You need to know what you are liable for and be ready. Better get to airport early too!!! Not sure if it is all worth it. Also, you are alloted a "free" amount of stuff to bring back. Make sure you calculate that in your estimation. Good luck and "have fun!"
