Questions about panerai!

I recently had a panerai and sold it! I dont know much about the brand. I was wondering what the difference was between the pam 000 and the pam 112 apart from the obvious dial difference. With the 000 I think you had to wind it manually every so often or else it died?. Is there a similar looking panerai to the 000 that you dont have to wind manually, somthing that winds itself from the movement on your wrist? Appreciate all help

Yes there is. Look for automatic PAMs, some of the choices are, 312, 320, 359, 351,etc..

You mean bronze? Pam382? It's a 3-day reserve automatic but good luck finding one.

No doubt... The 382's are out there at about double the original retail price.

Also the 104 and 164, which have the same case as the 000, 112, etc

The 312, 320, etc have the '1950' case which is a different shape and sits up higher on the wrist

Check also whether or not the models you are interested in have the quick-change strap system (rather than screws), and which are titanium (such as the 351)

Any of the automatics are a little taller than the manual wind models.

The 1950s 47mm case with domed crystals also, as mentioned sit higher.

Best to try one on and confirm the fit to your wrist. I have a 287, which has a cushion case, whilst a heavy automatic, it sits comfortably.
The 287 is similar to the 164, but different case and series.

cheers
richard

so the manual wound models... you have to actually wind by hand every few hours to keep them running?

Hi Sean,

No not every few hours.

If you google the model and movement you will get the specs.

Sean...is that an Irish name?

I think 312 or 320 are the safest auto pams to start with. Otherwise, go manuals.

Is this the watch you recently bought for somewhere around $1000? Curious how you made out on the sale if you don't mind sharing..
