What just happened here?

Can someone please explain (in plain English) what just went down?

Is the "Lord" abandoning the ship?

Questions were raised about some of the OP credentials. There appeared to be no conclusive records of his Lordship nor his MBE. Personally I wouldn't be happy going to a gathering arranged by someone who couldn't prove exactly who they were.

Does this mean I have to bring my birth certificate if I attend?

I would be hesitant, too. And it's not the first time this has come up.

Our ruling class just failed to exhibit any backbone.

I would agree. I've met David and spent some time with him, drove him around Tampa some, and he is a kind gentleman. I miss hearing from him actually.

Thought he was a bit strange, I mean who boasts about having an MBE like he did.

If it was me I'd be clever about it, drop it in subtlety. I'd want you all to know what a great guy I am but not look like I'm showing off.

Must be the only MBE not recorded in the London Gazette. The London gazette that even goes so far as to recoded all persons made QC.

Let alone his fathers posthumous CBE. Posthumous honours are only awarded for valour when dying in the line of duty. As for the the title ...

Anyway, the smell of burning pants has hopefully gone and remember that we don't really discus fakes here though
