And all this risk and anguish could be avoided from buying from one of the indisputably amazing sellers here.

"Trusted" sellers are trusted until they aren't. There's a thread from years back where a reputable seller went rogue. I think it's a sticky.

Edit: I can't find it now. I think that guy passed a while ago... Can't remember his name. I think he had a drug problem that caused him to go rogue.

Edit: found it - https://www.rolexforums.com/showthread.php?t=309258

This is the most disturbing/painful thread I've ever read on TRF. A true horror story. Scammers also like to 'build relationship' with their victims. If one buys two 'hot' watches at once from a different country, from someone without any reputation here, wire transfer instead of Paypal or credit card that offer a way out if things go wrong, I mean, all that combined can make things go wrong quickly. I wish you best of luck OP.

ps. Jason, I agree with everything you posted here.

Yes I know that situation well. Things can happen to anyone as it did to him.

But this situation we’re currently watching didn’t happen on TRF.

My risk SWAG is 1 in thousands - about the same as having a traffic accident on the way to the AD.

I wouldn’t think twice about trusting the majority of the long-time sellers on TRF who have stellar references. If a buyer is worried, pay the 3% extra to use PayPal.

So, he‘s working for a bank and has faked wire documentations?

I‘d report him with his employer and file him with the FBI.
You have the Hulk from him - no matter if it‘s fake or not, you won‘t get more out of him, so you should now do the right thing.

Are you sure the hulk is genuine and not a superfake?

Also it is clear you are a person that is full of grace. I think though it may make sense to proceed in the manner you have considered, but have it checked by an attorney. Also I do not believe the prior advice about enforcing judgments in the USA, and CA is completely accurate, I would check on that. I believe you can file motions to have the court enforce judgments once awarded.

I do not think it is certain you have won any battles at this point. I think the hulk is possible fake stolen or fraken. Some of the fakes are shockingly good. Bring it to Rolex RSC and ask them about it's serviceability.

I think you are very considerate but need to tone down threats and move forward with an attorney. What's that phrase "no good deed goes unpunished", helping him out by not filing complaints through legal system may open you up to a countersuit. For the same reason I would ask the Mods to change the title, as the watch was not stolen by FedEx and that may also expose you to liability.

What ended up happening (without me reading through all the pages)? Was the "dropped off to FedEx with their system down" a lie? And now he's sending a new watch?

It’s worth a read. I say next time you have some free time, you draw a bath, pour some wine, and just dive in.

Correct me if I am wrong, but this isn’t even close to being resolved, you still paid several thousand dollars for a box of paper... correct ?

Hulk Stolen?

This is a really interesting thread.

How did the seller get a coveted Hulk with stickers if he’s “short on cash”?

If he has committed wire fraud - is it a criminal offence not to report? Just curious.

OP- first let me start by saying I am sorry for this disaster you are dealing with. I am sure an additional resolution is imminent regarding the BLNR as your friend has the identity of seller now.

Second- Curious as to why you didn't have your local friend complete transaction for you in the first place? Perhaps you believed your relationship with seller was better than with your friend? Point being is your insurance was there in the first place.

Again- really sorry about the lack of integrity in some individuals

Not sure if you are coming in late to the discussion - or had read the whole thread - but your comment is patently unfair if it is pointed at the OP considering the circumstances.

OP had multiple trouble-free deals with that seller and this particular transaction was the one when the seller went rogue.

However, if “A fool and their money” was generally & contextually aimed at buyers who use the private secondary market - then I understand it better. ADs are the safest route by far...
