Ordering extra links or a new bracelet?

I have never bought a used watch but I’m in the market now for an older Sub or Sea Dweller. I am a big guy and new watches usually fit me correctly with all the links. How easy or difficult is it to purchase extra links for older Rolex models, if I find one with a down-sized bracelet? Or to order a replacement bracelet entirely? Is that something any AD can do for you?

In most cases, you would be able to use a more modern 93150 if that is your preference. And extra links are readily available for those. But we could help more if you provide more details.

Which bracelet specifically are you asking about? How old a watch are we talking about? 1980s? 1970s? 1960s? 1950s? Or maybe just tell us which references you are looking at. And how large is your wrist exactly?

Well I don’t know anything about the bracelet numbers. As far as watches, for example I have been looking at Submariner 16610 and Sea Dweller 16600.

Ah, then quite modern watches. No problem finding and adding links for those.

New bracelets run a couple of thousand bucks, links cost around $50, so you do have a choice.

Yes, any AD can order links and some with watchmakers on staff may even have some in stock.

I'd do this, and keep the original bracelet somewhere safe. The modern bracelets are much stronger and safer than the vintage ones.

My original 5513 Swiss rivet bracelet broke and the watch fell off my wrist without my noticing. Luckily I was at home so I didn't lose it, but If I'd been outdoors...

The watches you are looking at have good bracelets and you will easily get links. I think the 16600 is a killer watch. I had one, sold it, missed it and bought another. So much value.
