Bob's Watches

Friends - I hear a lot of people on the forums say - Bob's is overpriced. I am interested in a Gold Sub with Blue dial and they seems to have some pretty good pricing than whats listed on the forum. What am I missing?

Thanks for your time and insight

James

I find their prices to be very fair on everything I've looked at.

I also see fair pricing. I am not a fan of their customer service. I had an unpleasant experience with them last April.

Some are over the RP but not by much. I've also heard that they're not very good customer service wise.

Just make sure you really look at the watches, check the condition of each watch. for example on gold watches make sure they are using the OEM gold springbars and they are in good condition.

You have 3 days to check.

In general though I bought every rolex I've owned from them, and sold all my rolexes to them.

Not always completely frictionless but overall I trust those guys. And they do good work on the watches.

Did you check on Chrono24? Lots of different dealers to deal with and Chrono acts as a middle man, holding funds for 10 days.

Very good advice. For example, on this EXP II, it shows a Polar Dial, but the Rolex paperwork is listing a Black Dial.

I’ve bought 2 watches from Bob’s. Prices were in line with market, and both pieces were relatively as described, I feel they could have been a little more detailed in the description, but it wasn’t inaccurate, and not a deal breaker. I was overall happy with it. I’d probably buy from them again if something popped up I couldn’t live without at a good price.

They should have better prices than those sellers in the TRF as most watches they don’t have Rolex-provided service warranty.

I sold my unworn DJ41 and Exp 214270 to them and got huge haircuts for both watches like 15-20% on the retail price.

I bought my YM from them and the pricing and service were excellent. I did inquire about selling an Omega to them and they low balled me on the price and ended up selling elsewhere so your mileage may vary.

As others have said, customer service seems to be their downfall, and not pricing.

I'd much rather deal with the trusted sellers around here; no issues whatsoever with them.

Depending on the model, I agree overall pricing is fair. Out of 5 watches I purchased from them, three were immediately sent bank for correctable issues, one was fortunately adjusted at my local AD... a big inconvenience and somewhat off-putting, but extremely good pricing on each, and customer service was marginally acceptable. After the 3rd watch from them, price was the deciding factor to purchase again. Make sure you are getting all the links that are pictured on the watch.

The sale prices are not the issue...it's the absolute ridiculous prices they offer you for your own watches. I have no problem with them creating profit margins but their spreads are just silly.

They also happily sell pieces without box/papers for market prices immediately after telling you that they need to lower their offer for your watches because people won't be interested without hang tags, papers, etc.

They sell at fair prices but buy at low prices. Good to buy from and bad to sell to. I got a great deal buying my Daytona 116500 a while ago.

I think Bobs actually sets the market price for preowned Rolex gray dealers these days. You won’t get a deal but you’ll get a good quality watch. They are very reputable and that’s important these days. That’s been my experience.

Their pricing seems competitive and I concur with the recommendation to inspect whether the condition matches the pictures if you do buy something.

I bought one watch for them and it wasn’t my favorite watch-buying experience. I didn’t enjoy working with them for a number of reasons.

Typically,

e-comms price to sell and cut to the chase.

TS classifieds price to start a negotiation.

In the end, use a Bob or reputable e-comm price to justify a FAIR offer.

It’s no different than when they buy wholesale or a trade in.

Move on if they say no. Edit: or buy from Bobs. (Duh)

Bobs purchased my SD43 at $1500 over what the other grays offered me . It was a painless experience and I ended up making $ on the deal.

Bob's purchased my WG DD with a diamond dial for $2000 over the offer from TRF trusted seller. And they talked me down $500 because I couldn't verify the last service date, so it would have been $2500 higher. Very pleased.
But then I purchased a WG Daytona from them and had to pay Texas sales tax, which was a big surprise. Still beat other prices for an identical watch. So I would deal with them again.

My experience was a very low ball offer on a Blue SkyD.

Bought 2 watches from them in the past 2 years.
Never had a customer service problem.
Were received as represented.

Would never sell them anything. Other/Better channels to do that.

You pay a premium at Bobs for the piece of mind. Safe method of paying, warranty and returns etc. However... pay close attention to the actual watches. I have come across several times where the papers will say one thing and it will have a different bezel insert than what was born with the watch, bracelets that do not have matching clasp code date, dials replaced etc. Not saying anything is aftermarket or fake. Just saying that it seems to me they do not accurately portray the originality of the watches. Once you ask and inquire, they do tell the truth. May just be advertising oversight.

Bought 2 watches from Bobs. Go full sets. Both from the 1980s. Amazing watches. Yes you Pay a little extra for some certainty and a three day return period and legitimacy. However, as previously noted by some posters. You need to check and make double sure because the volume is so high they sometimes miss some details.

That's a fact... and the pricing usually reflects the extent when you see two similar models $500-1000 different in price.
