Here's a chance to own a piece of horological history! Released in 1971, the Rolex Explorer II remains one of the most unique designs that the brand has ever released. The 1655 reference was in production from 1971-1984. The original case design, such as this example, was produced from 1971-1974. With a nickname of “Freccione” from Italian collectors due to its large arrow hand, these pieces have become some of the most coveted watches ever created by Rolex.

This piece has a 3.2xxxxx serial number dating back to 1973, when the sole owner purchased it. Until two months ago, the Explorer II served as his daily watch for 47 years! The watch was serviced in 2001 by a Rolex Service Center and again in 2019 by a local watchmaker. All records are present from both services and pictures can be provided for serious buyers upon request. The serial number is confirmed by the Rolex service record.

The original bracelet was replaced in 1991 with a 93150 bracelet and 501 B end links. There are 11 links in the bracelet. A vintage cloth and Rolex service box are included in addition to the service documents. There are no original boxes or papers with this piece.

The Calibre 1575 movement is keeping time well within COSC standards and can be viewed onna timegrapher upon request. The case and bracelet have signs of wear which can be seen in the photos as well. A polish will be left to your preference after buying. The watch was polished once during service in 2001.

The collector’s piece is available for $17,775 USD and payment must be made by wire only.
