I tried in London, wasn’t worth it. But out of town AD managed to get them both for me.

I think I made the rounds of calls to a number of ADs several times a few weeks apart.

There was only one AD in these markets I spoke to that even considered a deposit, many just didn't want the hassle of holding a significant amount of money for an indefinite period of time.
I'm sure it was worth it though as you got your watch without waiting years or play the AD games.

Likewise my friend. This guy is eternally grateful for the intro. It's a waiting game now, need to find time to follow up with them one of these days as well as get together again!

Fortunately Brian (now banned) helped me get one in the UK, that took approx 12 months, otherwise I had no chance since I didnt actually have a Patek AD relationship at all coming from Rolex.

Even the AD staff were amazed to see it (or rather me buying it).

When it was taken out the back to be resized etc one staff member caught a glimpse and presumed it was a 5712 I was collecting and was shocked when he asked and I told him it was a 5711. He then commented it was now like “gold dust” and we had a nice little discussion about 5711 and 116500 being the crazy SS watches.

I was very lucky and very grateful - believe they dont even have a list for this model anymore since demand crazy. Oddly enough it was my first AD experience since all my watches have been mailed in the past.

This. I finally just got over it. I was surprised, but one day I woke up and just didn't care anymore. I don't even really like it now. I'm far too busy to invest extended time tracking down a watch when I have $20-30K to spend. If it's fun to you, then great!

The society we live in creates the hype, but also let's us move on quickly...

Yes 5712 is way more interesting, Nautilus in general is not a sport watch. Rolex SS is a sport watch. So to me it would make way more sense to buy a PM nautilus for a Power watch than a SS one. IMHO

That is a shame for Patek that you could not obtain this watch within a reasonable time. How many others have walked away with a negative feelings over the recent scarcity of the Nautilus.
