The heart of the range is surely the Datejust, the original Oyster Perpetual. The time and date are all you need, and there's none of the 'village people' dressing-up. I mean, are you a deep sea diver or an airline pilot?

Parish the thought of owning only one....I could maybe do two! Anywhoo...I resemble the remark above I could probably become a full time Daytona Man with my 116500 white dial. The Platona could knock it off its pedestal but not realistic for the time being.

Richard371 besides us if your friends know what your 116500 is do they not think you are crazy just for it. Very few in my personal circle know nor much less care about my Daytona and most would think anything over the cost of a Seiko was crazy money for a watch.:)

Batman: Hard to argue with that choice. Right now I'm down to just one watch and that's it, but I'm not promising to wear only it for the rest of my life.

From what I own: 16610.
The 16618 is my overall goal, hopefully within the next few years. Once I figure out how many kids we're having and what they cost

I'm going through this dilemma now!

I never considered I could even look at a Rolex, let alone own one, so now the time is coming, I thought I should go with my heart.

I always wanted one, I always lusted over one and now I've been on this Forum for months, I feel I'm making the right choice: a Rolex Submariner. No date complication to mess up the dial with a cyclops, just a beautiful Steel Submariner, one of the most iconic watches in the world.

That's my choice! :)

???? The dial is fake! We all heard the story about them being made for the Japanese market. One came with a recent Rolex service just before auction(many years ago). EC bought it then returned it. Later JM bought one. Genuine watch but fake dial. Shame as it would be lovely if Rolex made a red dial daytona.
