Canadian Navy issued Tudor sub!

I never thought I would get ahold of one of these but as luck would have it I happened to stumble on a great Tudor sub with the serial number stamped on the back. I knew I had seen that kind of caseback before in my research so after confirming with a fellow collector who is somewhat of an expert on Canadian military watches I snapped up this baby....One of a handful of stamped examples issued by the Royal Canadian Navy in 1984/85. Complete with original bracelet with dive extension. I have to say I'm in love with this thing.

The original owner brought this one in to a local jeweller to sell. That's how I managed to pick it up. There are a few of these floating around in Canada. Most of them pop up from retired navy divers or their widows. I know of a few more in various configurations in private collections. A handful of them including this one have markings stamped into the caseback.

Canadian Navy watch

Hey Saskmh,

I was lucky a couple weeks ago and got the opportunity to acquire a RCN Milsub. It’s basically the same watch as yours: Tudor Submariner 94010 serial 937XXX which dates it to 1980-1981. It has the exact same configuration as yours: triangle 3-6-9-12, bracelet with divers extension and lollipop hour hand. Unfortunately, the case back on mine is “sterile” but I bought it directly from the retired clearance diver so provenance is good. I know which watch I’ll be wearing next Remembrance Day! Hope you still have yours and wear it with pride. 🇨🇦🇨🇦🇨🇦

Hey bud you're in Montreal? I'm from there also, and I picked one up last year but without markings. I however did buy it from the original owner. Can you PM me please? Congrats by the way!

I haven't been on here in a while.....

This pickup back in 2017 was the start of my jumping down the rabbit hole of Canadian Tudor Milsubs. Given the progress on research and the development of the RCN milsub registry I think it's time I start a new thread with some discussion specifically on the history of the Canadian issued milsubs.

I'd be interested. Do you know if those hands left the factory along with that dial?

It would be great to have a separate Tudor RCN Sub section of the forum. Picked one up in November from a relative of Clearance diver as well. I love the watch. Wearing it right now. Mine is a no date.
