Come on folks. It's a thread on an open forum on the damn internet during a national lockdown. Maybe loosen the belt a few notches.
Only ever worn with a suit, in a business setting (Hardly ever wear a suit) No scratches on your Rolex (many many scratches) You are too scared to remove links/screws yourself (I've removed links more times than I care) It only lives in a safe (a Glock is the only thing that lives in my safe) You bought it as an “investment” (meh, I bought with no papers/tags anyway) You bought it to impress other people (i don't care) You think the hang tag is equally important as your watch (see "investment") Your Rolex diver has never been in the ocean (i lived in Hawaii and was at the beach every weekend) You're welcome. |

If Rolex wants to tell me how to use my watch, and take it back if I'm not using it based on their requirements, then they should front 3/4 the cost of the watch. And that includes if they want control over my ability to sell it if I so choose.

I was in the middle of Thailand when my parents emailed me to let me know I had a letter from HMRC, I told them to open it, and it was a tax rebate for £3500 (circa). I did not expect this at all, and was only 1/3 into our adventure. With More than enough in savings, I decided to look at used Rolexes in Bangkok as this was burning a hole in my pocket and it was a perfect opportunity to finally get one with no liabilities at all on the horizon. there is (or was) a great market for pre owned Rolex in certain parts of Bangkok, and for the day i was on the hunt. I was looking at 36mm exp1s but my wife pointed to the 39mm version and was like, try that, looks better to me. I tried it on and she was like yep, that’s better!!! And I agreed, it had a bit more presence and oomph on the wrist! However As the exp1 in 39mm was still a brand new model at that time, the used price was not far off RRP. So me and my wife went to Siam paragon to the Rolex AD and got a brand new one instead at a tasty discount. It was an amazing day, and I wore it right across Asia from coast to coast. Posted the box and docs back home. It Flew under the radar in $10 a night hostels but also has a certain vibe to it that shows it’s clear high end craftsmanship. However No one around me while sipping on buckets of poison at the full moon party would have known it was a £3.5k watch I wore that watch and scratched it up proper on trains in Vietnam, on the Great Wall, hiking in Tibet, Nepal, all round India. Definitely meets your criteria !!! However... if I had a DD... I would not be taking it in the sea. Guaranteed!!! Years later..... i am very careful with my BLNR, to me, it is a dress watch, does not fly under the radar and it is treated with a bit more respect.. so to speak |

I agree with all of these, hilarious to see everyone feeling so personally attacked because they meet all the criteria

Forced to return Rolex...
LOL - A company dictating what I do with something I purchased with my own money?
That’s a funny one. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk

Well, I do admit I would be too scared to remove links/screws myself, and my Sub has never been in salt water. But lots of swimming pools. I've worn the f#+-#!! hell out of her for over 24 years, virtually 24/7. She never gets tired like I do, takes everything I can throw at her...!

I think this echoes the sentiment that Porsche corporate had that if you're not driving our cars, but garaging them as investments, then you shouldn't be allowed to buy one.
But I believe that if you buy something you should be allowed to do anything you want, whether it's selling it for a profit or shooting a 50 BMG at it. |

I look down at all of the desk diving marks, especially the big ones, and remember the deals I was brought in to help close, just like they were meant to be used.

For the record Officer Rolex; My DJ has never been worn with a suit so that is okay It has scratches so this is proof its been used Happy to play around with the strap so no issues there What is a safe? Bought it to wear but if its value goes up thats a bonus for my kids when they inherit it Under lockdown so no one to impress Hang tag is in the box with spare links Not had a holiday since buying the watch so unable to test its underwater capabilities, it has however been submerged in the washing up bowl does this count? So on this basis can I keep my watch please

If you buy a Rolex, and you don’t put it through its paces in life, you should grab a drink or two and actually enjoy the one life you’ll have on earth.
That’s better... Last edited by EconTigerOrange; 24 April 2020 at 04:25 AM.. Reason: Typo |

when I was a kid, I thought adults were mature. I also viewed Rolex as a sign of maturity bc one would have to be a responsible, driven, successful, and mature adult to own one. this thread has proven otherwise.

Well, I would qualify under the following scenarios...
No scratches on your Rolex You are too scared to remove links/screws yourself Your Rolex diver has never been in the ocean Sorry, I'm not returning any of my Rolex watches. |

I take an exception because we all have the right to do whatever we want with what we purchased with our money.
