I played A LOT back when I was single and winning big meant a lot to me. It was as much an ego thing as it was about the money. Now it's just ego. I played in some games against real pros, guys I recognized from TV. Not huge stakes but sometimes those guys play down to test themselves against a wider pool.

I'm a tight player. I'm not really good at a cash game no-limit. I've had some good runs but when it comes to no-limit I do much better in tournaments.
Yeah I haven't tested the waters yet, but my gut tells me to stay where I'm at for now. Thanks for the input fellas! Will keep you all posted!!

Now, I actually love playing limit hold 'em. It's a faster game and I hate to sit there while 2 dudes stare each other down for 15 minutes over a single call. I'm usually the youngest guy at the table by 30-40 years but it's an easy game and I almost always win. I dont get too bent or of shape when someone chases and hits runner-runner and I lose $3k (because I'm usually only in for $50-100 at most). I like to play where they have big bad-beat jackpots that hit most often on the low-limit tables where 7-10 people see the flop. I play a lot better post flop. It's more like bingo but I'm a middle age married guy. Who am I trying to impress?
A friend of mine used to play in the WSOP Main Event every year. He loved playing against the TV Pros (Phil Ivey, Daniel Negrenau, etc.) because he knew how they played, but they had no clue about how he played. If you study them and are not intimidated by them being celebrities, you have a pretty good chance.

I hit a bad beat once. I don't play anymore but used to. The limit tables take more patience but pay more consistently in my experience. No limit can lend itself to some hard luck and poor losers. Always someone bringing drama to the no limit tables.

Winnings is currently at ~$20k since August.

Here's a photo of last night!

I bought in $1,500, bled down to around $700 for the first 3 hours. Then built back to $1,600, where I tripled up with AA in the hole! Sweet! It was a $3,500 profit session. I'm debating if I should move up to the 10-20 tables to try and maximize profits, or stay at 5-10 where I'm doing very well...
Good work! There was a great article in CardPlayer a few months back about shot taking with sound BRM. Not sure if your 5/10 game is uncapped, I would think 10/20 is, but often you can min buy in at the next level up to feel out a game for a standard buy-in at the level below. Also try to avoid moving up when a bigger game is not running. As you will often get players from the bigger game dropping down while on the interest list for their usual stake. But if you are winning 5/10 player, I'm sure this isn't new info :)

Good luck and hopefully the run good continues!

This is awesome! Keep the updates coming! I play a lot of poker myself. I'm actually in the process of moving to the LA area from Philly. Maybe we'll be playing at the same table soon as I play similar stakes. I mainly play cash but I'm making a transition over to MTT's. I'll be hitting up couple WSOPC circuit events along the way to LA. I'll be driving to Choctaw in a week to start my first tournament of 2017! Maybe I'll start a thread for the 3 week trip...this might keep C.R.J. off 2p2.

Update: Currently at $24,000 winnings. Didn't have much time to play during January or February, but did squeeze in a few games here and there! Some #chipporn for you fellas!

From a recent Commerce trip. In for $1,300, out for $3,800!

I love this thread..

Reminds me of the stock/investment thread. The one where nobody tells you about their losses, just their wins.

Personally, I love poker. But I stay away. As with everything I do, I am an emotional player. I do nothing but lose.

I have had a few nice runs. But I always throw it back.

You don't officially lose unless you sell

The irony is with poker you always remember the big losing hands not the winners

I'm the total opposite. Barely remember the bad beats, but can clearly recall the key winning hands and my thought process around the villain(s), board texture, bet sizing and what I perceive my table image to be. Maybe I'm just a glass half full kinda guy......

Not sure whether or not you guys were implying anything.. I did have a losing game in February. But it isn't much fun posting pictures of felt on its lonesome. My past 13 trips to Commerce Casino resulted in 11 wins and 2 losses. My wife didn't believe my win rate was as good as it was until she saw it with her own eyes. With blackjack, on the otherhand, I would have booked 13 losses if I hadn't quit years ago!

Yep blackjack is very hard to win at unfortunately, that little extra odds in favour of the dealer adds up.

11 out of 13 is a great result, well done keep it up and keep us in the loop :-)

I play a lot of recreational poker. I generally hate NLHE as I think I'm merely average but love mixed games, OE, PLO, etc. There are a number of good card rooms here in PA and I get to AC and LV a few times a year.

By the way, if anyone is interested, feel free to follow me on instagram: nawmsayin

It shows my poker winnings (and sometimes losses), as well as my watch pickups.

I used to play some years ago during Poker's prime. Not much anymore. I have no interest in higher limits and in lower limit it's no longer appealing to me sitting at a table for the whole night to win a couple hundred bucks.
