Rolex 16520 A / P serial - what should be in the box

I recently purchased a white dial 16520 A9 serial to pair up with the black dial P3 serial 16520 that I own. Both are supposed to be full sets but I have noted a significant difference between each of the two in terms of what was included with the watch.

I recently purchased a translation booklet, red swing tag, and 2000 / 2001 calendar card for the watch (the watch was sold in April 2000) and the cosmograph booklet

Any help or advice on what should have been included is greatly appreciated - should the calendar have been 2000/2001?

It really depends what the dealer had on hand at the time, but 1995 seems a little old for the booklet.

Could someone please assist me to establish what should be included with the A9 serial 16520 that I recently acquired.

Is the presentation box correct for a watch that was sold in April 2000?

I have picked up a red swing tag from ebay (still trying to hunt do a correct green Rolex Daytona swing tag) and I have also purchased a Cosmograph Daytona booklet.

Would it be correct for an April 2000 watch that was retailed in Switzerland to have the following:-
Presentation box - ref 68.00.71
Calendar card - 2000/ 2001
Rolex translation booklet - 565.00.6U
Red swing tag
Your Rolex Oyster booklet - 579.52 Eng - 300 - 3 1995

And other than the green Rolex Daytona swing tag and Cosmograph Daytona booklet is there anything missing from the above?

Any assistance greatly appreciated

I would also be curious to know if there is any missing from the full set black dial 16520 that I have - everything that came with it is shown in post 3 above.

Thanks

Greetings

I also have a P series 16520 which was purchased in 2000.

Back in those days, dealers received watches in one delivery and boxes and knick knacks in other deliveries. Therefore whoever bought the 16520 back then would have had a box taken off the shelf with the watch inside it plus a couple of tags etc. There was no prescribed list of accessories and it is almost certain that different customers would have walked out of the same dealer on the same day with different things in the box.

Therefore there is no correct or defined answer to your question.

Regards

Mick

I think you have all the ingredients across the two sets - the watch holders in the boxes that you have changed in the early 2000s so they could correctly be either the cushion or "C" clip style. Other than that the only other item I can think of is a bezel protector......you sometimes see them included in older sets but often they were just discarded by either the owner or dealer. Hope you are enjoying the watches.

So here is a question: the 1999 Daytona Cosmograph booklet does not have the 16519 in it under the listed models. Would that still be the correct booklet for an A serial 16519? Thanks in advance.

I have 2 Ref 16520's both came with...

booklets dating from late 90's whereas the watches are both mid 90's production.
I have no reason too believe any of the packaging is not original as I purchased 1 of them from the original owner & it was as complete as they come including serial # hang tag. He claims nothing was added or taken away from the set & it is as he received it from AD.

Thanks
Justin

My A serial has a mahogany wooden box. Most dealers when a watch was sold gave you whatever they had.

Your box belongs to the Day-Date and not for your stainless steel 16520. It's a bad part on the dealer for not able to keep things straight.

I understand that, But really I don't care... It has everything else like all paperwork and service paperwork. To me that's what matters.

Orvx, to have everything, you need :

outer/inner marbalized box with the tan suede pillow and suede pillow wrap
red hologram hang tag
green hang tag with serial number tag affixed to it containing the serial number
Owner's manual booklet
Your Rolex Oyster booklet
vinyl folio
calendar
translation booklet
warranty paper
Rolex polishing cloth
Rolex service booklet

Some sets are often missing some items. Some of the common items that could be missing are:

Rolex polishing cloth
green hang tag
calendar
vinyl folio
Rolex service booklet

I recently got a P series 16523 with a year 2000 certificate, but the cosmograph booklet was missing. Is your cosmograph booklet dated 2000? I could only find those of year 1999. The year 2000 one are mostly for 116520.
