My parents have a Prado TXL Diesel and I get to drive it often while on vacation. The car is phenomenal, rugged, spacious and quite luxurious. Best car for the money.

I drive an '06 Lexus LX470 which is the same wagon as a Toyota Land Cruiser UZJ100.The Lexus has wood trim and other small details that the LC doesn't. All Lexus LX470's have AHC (adjustive height control) which provides a fantastic ride. If the AHC worries you, the Toyota land cruiser suspension is interchangeable and you can remove the AHC. The '06-'07's are a little more polished and have a bump in horsepower from the previous year models. The Toyota land cruiser came equipped with the AHC in 06-07, but you may be lucky to find one without the suspension. Performance, reliablitiy, and comfort can't be matched. I'm a huge land cruiser fan all the way back to my 1985 FJ60. One day I'll forced into a 200 series because I refuse to drive anything else. With that said, I always tell people to buy the newest land cruiser that you can afford.

I drive one every day and though it's heavy and gets lousy mpg I'd say it's an easy daily driver. Regarding an earlier comment, I think the turning radius is quite good. I'm also biased as I'm a Toyota dealer, but after driving 4runners for a few years I switched and really enjoy the LC. Good luck with the search and let me know if I can help in any way.

I have a 93 Land Cruiser. Just got it a few months back. 1 owner and not molested. Here's a pic of it in one of our friendly Seattle parking garages.
I've also included a pic of my former Mitsubishi Delica. Loved that van, but RHD in the states is a pain. Aside from these vehicle, I've always been a Land Rover guy. I have a 73 that I did a frame off restoration on and Ive owned many over the years. |

Also.... that Quicksand 4-runner is a Unicorn. So rare... I tried and tried to get it to no avail.

Finest 4 wheel drive in the world. I have owned several and many different generations. Last was an LX 570. Couldnt stand the auto height adjustment.

How many miles were on it when you bought it for that?

We test drove a 2015 LC a few weeks ago. Wife liked it but having had a LX or two she liked it but not enough to buy it. Great truck though.
Believe it or not we ended up buying her a super low mile loaded up 2015 suburban LTZ. Those have got real nice in the last few years but no where near as off road proficient as a LC. We drove a 4Runner as well but that was a quick no from the wife as it was loud and very raw. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk |

Agree. With the limited trim they try hard to make it nice. Navigation, heated and cooled seats the whole 9 yards. But in the end the JD 9660STS is quieter under throttle. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk |

Between the archaic transmission and the brake dive it's definitely not for all. |

This thread is reminding me of the 1987 Land Cruiser my family had. What an awesome vehicle that was. Went anywhere and everywhere. Can't speak to current models, but I imagine they still go anywhere and chug gasoline.

I've had a few LC's, here's a pic of my current '90 FJ62. I've done a lot of work to it: total rebuild under the hood, new transmission, and lots of internal accessories like dampening, Apple radio, and BMW seats. So far we've owned four 60's & 62's, three 80's, and a 100 series, as well as a 4Runner for our oldest high schooler. Can't beat em! Sent from my iPad using Tapatalk Pro |

This will seem an elementary question:
What are the durability/performance differences between the Land Cruiser and the Sequoia?

I still don't know enough about Cruisers to state emphatically. I believe that in the newer models, even though the Cruiser is now over $80K and seems like a super luxury SUV, it is still quite capable offload as is stock. I think the Sequoia is less capable, but it is a lot more affordable.
I've been a Land Rover guy for so long this is all still new to me. |

There is no comparison between the LC and the Sequoia. Totally different platform, built for totally different scopes.

Still doing this research. My wife has it down to an lx, LC, q7, or Denali xl..... anyway, LC and lx 200 reviews are baffling. They seem to fall into 4 categories.... Toyota fanboys, haters, people who actually did research making the appropriate comparisons etc, and what seem to be the bulk.......people who seem to know nothing about what the last 3 gens of LC/lx have been and seek to compare it to the fj40, or 70series, or worse yet.....a suburban......ugh

I will say this though.....a completely new model is due out in the next couple yrs and Toyota has promised significantly improved economy. May be worth the wait..... except it'll prob cost 100k

I would like a next gen Lexus GX but I gather it will be an extended RX, not a BOF SUV. To be honest I adore the new q7 even though it's a completely different bag of nuts. |

That's actually pretty normal I think. They are a high ticket, slow moving, niche market kind of truck...... and I'm sure dealers have a quota to sell a few a year which, in the grand scheme, since its Toyota's flagship, hitting that goal far surpasses any ambitions to make a profit on them. |
