Predictions anyone?

With Panerai gradually moving in house, or should I say already have what will happen to the demand and prices of the following discontinued models like the 000,005,111,112?

The above models had so much to offer, something we don't see in the range anymore. An easily serviceable ETA movement, lugs that use screws instead of push pins , a screwed case back instead of a pushed one (1000,1005), sandwich dials (only reserved for top models now).

It's sad how lately I've been reading up on the brand and they are moving upscale. All the features stated are gone and when I went to the boutique hoping to get my hands on their new "entry" level models like the 510,560 I was sad to see that they didn't have sandwich dials.

Personally, I prefer the sausage dial for the models you mentioned.

As for predicting what Panerai will do, I think for every really awesome piece, they'll release a couple total head scratchers. At least they can still get it right sometimes. ;-)

I just wish they'd make some of the LE awesome pieces standard production, like the 629.

Can you imagine a 372 with a blue dial?

Yeah, not too sure about the direction they're taking with the models you listed. That's why I snatched up a 000 as soon as I found one.

Practically speaking, there's nothing wrong with the newer versions (1000 vs 000, for example) but to me the older models just feel more "pure".

It's always a bit sad when a manufacturer changes things which suggest financial reasons. Like you say the push back rather than screw back and the push pins rather than screw type. The in-house are no doubt superb but it's almost like they have increased manufacturer cost doing that so have to compromise else where. Still fabulous watches but it just seems a shame in a way. Just my opinion of course.

20 years

Its 20 years since they bought panerai so i'd expect something that links direct to the original models and more historic stuff.

we know abut the new bronze and the two new rads, i expect there to be at least a couple of more recreations to hit with the anniversary

I hope Panerai read this because 372 with the blue dial is so sexy indeed

agree 100%, although the 662/663 that was released last year and the 685/687 to be released this year are beautiful pieces. not to mention the 690, now that is a stunning piece, wish i had grabbed one when i had the chance.

it will interesting to see what else panerai has 'up their sleeve'

In future the 000 and 005 are gonna get more desirable imho as in the new 1000/1005 apart from movt everything is downgraded which for me is not a great move from panerai

I was told by an AD that Panerai would move away from 000 and 005 ... this was in 2007 and it still has. It happened... having said that: I have a 005

Have been waiting and waiting for a 44mm Sub. PAM25 was my first PAM so hoping to see something that makes me want to buy a Sub again.
