Car Swapping

Debating this move. Curious as to how crazy you guys actually think this is.

I realize the insanity of it all. I really do. So bear with me. Again, love the Ranger Rover. But for many reasons I am thinking about going back to the Jeep SRT.

My dealership has a lovely black model in the lot with all the bells and whistles. I drove it yesterday and I really do like it very much.

I know the general consensus says don't worry about what other people think. But as a sales guy running a small business, I have to worry about the perception of existing and potential customers. And I have had multiple random comments from all walks on what a Range Rover "represents".

Thinking it might be a smart move to get back into a Jeep.

It would basically be an even swap. And yes, it is just fun and I enjoy the process. So a little bit of everything involved here.

Yeah, if I'm being honest with myself it'll not likely last longer than a year.

I'm not casting stones--TRUST ME

I seriously think it's a great move and personally believe you'll have more fun in it (I know you've owned it before, so you probably already know that--oh and electronics are better )

Ha. Yeah, I know it. You and I can relate on the car swapping thing.

And I do think it'll ultimately be more fun.

NO WAY. I saw a used one for sale recently and it looked terrible. The interior looks like a rental car and all the materials wear out prematurely. I would never spend that kind of money on a jeep.

I think you might be feeling a little self conscious for no reason anyway. Luxury cars are all over in the tri state. It's almost expected and most people have no clue what things cost.

I love Jeeps... especially those SRTs. That said, I wouldn't think twice about a successful small business owner driving a RR. Ultimately, the decision is yours and you will have a cool SUV either way.

A friend and I were discussing this last week. He is going to pass on a BMW or Mercedes and get a Ford Raptor as his company car. No problems here with my crown Vic!!

Seth, I think it is very crazy. But it is just because I'm not a flipper. I tend to keep stuff for a looooong time. If it makes you happy spending (or losing) money flipping cars then it is money well spent.

Seth - Is it the perception of the RR or something else about it?

The SRT is a beast - tough call though between that and the RR

So your going from a RRS Supercharged to a GC SRT?
Do you know how bad that Jeep dealer is salivating to get that trade in? That's a downgrade all across the board.

The X5M is one thing...... but cmon a Jeep? If your worried about people talking bad about you because you drive a foreign, then your around the wrong people.

Don't you also have a Raptor? Drive that bad boy to clients and let the wife drive the Rover.

I was waiting for you to chime in.

Raptor is long gone. And I'm not sure you are giving the jeep it's credit. It's no X5M, but it's still a super vehicle.

And I've basically been driving jeeps for years. I've actually always liked them very much.

And can't get rid of customers. I really like them a lot!!! And it's a reality that people do look...and judge.

But if I'm honest with myself, this is just what I do. It's not about customers or anything else. I enjoy this. Either way this goes, I'm having a good time.

Hopefully you don't change wives like you do vehicles and watches, that would be an expensive habit!

Seth,

I have certain clients that I have built relationships over the years that don't care what I drive, others that have been clients for many years that will always judge what I drive. I drive an F-350 Platinum as my DD, my partner has a RRS. I've had people comment about the RRS in a negative way, but the F350 although a similar priced vehicle always garners "wow gorgeous truck". It rarely sees it's intended use as a real work horse, but the image portrays that we are able to perform large projects, which we do. Enjoy the process and I'm looking forward to seeing the new Jeep LOL !!

Ha. Yes. Agree.

Interestingly enough I'm holding onto almost my watches lately. Only one I currently want to move. And that one has never been worn. By anyone.

That said, my wife is the only thing I commit to, until the dirt nap. Until then, everything else is fair game.

I am not a RR guy at all and I love all of the Jeeps I have owned, so I say Jeep. My personal opinion is also that a SRT is one of the best SUVs on the market. Period.

Seth,

It's the reason I didn't buy a full size RR as my DD. Personally, I could care less but at the end of the day I had to do what was right for my business ...that's what the garage is for !

I can definitely appreciate that. It is something I have thought about more times that I care to remember.

Agree 100%. Business interests first. And FWIW, love you truck. It is a total beast.

Thanks Steve.
