Would you trade......?

A 16600 in great condition plus some cash for a PAM 587?

I would surely hang on to that Rolex. It's the last one in my stable that I will ever part with.

I would keep the Rolex for sure. No.

I've owned well over 30 PAM's dating all the way back to 2001, and including Neo Vintage, and several LE's. I still own around 40 very nice straps for 44, and 47mm versions, and I'm still going to say, "hell no" to that trade.

PAM's values have plummeted, and that's being kind, over the last three years or so. They got away from what made them great, and the company took a hit with the collectors and the general marketplace.

I still think PAM's are great looking timepieces, but a 587 is not something I'd trade a beautiful 5 digit SD for. The SD is, and will only continue to be an iconic sought after classic, whereas the PAM's moment in the lime light seems to be continually fading, and fast.

Now if you'd like to add the 587, and give the PAM world a whirl, I'd say "have at it". But flipping a beautiful 5 digit SD is not a smart move.

My to cents from a long time collector of both Rolex and Panerai.

Cheers,

J

No problem! Just hoping no one thinks I was bashing the P brand, as that wasn't my intent, moreover just to clarify why I felt that was a bad trade.

I really enjoyed my time with most of the various PAM's I've owned. I still keep many of my old straps (OEM and aftermarket) just in case I "dip my feet back in that pool" again some day.

Just think that selling a 16600 is a bad idea at this time.

Cheers,

J

Nope. Maybe, and it’s a big maybe, if it was a straight swap and you really wanted it and no longer wanted the Rolex.

Don't do that man. The 16600 is a true keeper. I have mine on my wrist right now and can't imagine to let it go.

Looks like a landslide. I actually love the seadweller. Will try to add Panerai to collection. Thanks all!

Even posing the question risks a visit from the Department of Family Services, just to make sure the other kids in the house are being properly cared for

Pam’s are soft as butter now, and continue to decline. I wouldn’t trade the 16600 for two Pam 587’s.
