Welcome to TRF and congratulayionsvon your 116710LN. I have the ssme watch, bought it new in 2009 and wear it almost daily. It was my second Rolex. So you asked zbout our girst Rolex aquisition. Let me apologizebin advance for the long story.

My memory of my first goes like this...in a non AD jewelry store selling gold. They have been around for many years and have two locations. Anyway as they handed me the check for the gold, I wisecracked that I would put that towards my first Rolex. Even though I was the family watch lover, my wife got a SS model for herself first. I guess my passion ignited hers. So the salesman says, hey, I have a few Rolex models in the back. Would you like to see them? I deferred to my wife cause I knew if I said yes and then begged her to let me buy it, the doghouse would have my name on it. So he comes out with two, both 16613 subs. One was a bluesy but looked pretty beat up. The other was the one in my avatar. It looked to be in realy good shape, but missing the fisheye, only 4 years old, complete set, inner and outer box, anchor, all booklets and original Rolex paperwork to the first owner. They said the owners wife brought in to the store to sell it after he passed away. Well the wife said she liked it and that was encouraging. My brother in law ( who already owned a kermit) said he loved it. Then my wifes twin sister ( who bought her ss rolex at the same time my wife did) told me wife, if you dont buy that, I am going to buy it for Tim. (My brother in law). The jeweler said he would give us some aditional savings since we sold them gold and were a customer. Low and behold, we left the store, me incomplete shock and a proud Rolex owner with the watch on my wrist. That was a very exciting day for me!

You and I have had similar journeys by the sound of things.

What are you doing (have you done) with the Carrera?

And as I just saw the comment that these aren't seen recently here, so I have to include a view of the Mediterranean from this summer, checking if it's time for the 8pm dinner res yet, while verifying it's definitely not cocktail hour back in NYC. cheers...

Where were you on the Mediterranean to have a 4 hour difference with NYC?

Newbie as well - welcome & congrats!

1st acquisition was 15 yrs ago. Used some of the insurance settlement from an accident.
Rationale: metal was put into my body that I didn't want so I chose to put metal on my body that I wanted! :) Cheers

The Carrera presently sits in a pouch that my AD gave me. I’m pretty sure I will wear it again but honestly, with the GMT on my wrist right now, don’t really know when. What about you?
