First Rolex and First Post!
I've been lurking this forum for SEVERAL years but never really participated in any discussions since I was young, broke and in college. I remember reading JJ's and everyone else's posts and admiring everyone's passion about these watches; it made me feel at ease that I wasn't the only one obsessed with something most people would consider a "status symbol". This forum has been a valuable resource for me through out the years and the sense of community is something you rarely see elsewhere among internet strangers.
Watches have always been the one thing that always stood out to me, and I'm sure most of you feel the same way, so I won't bother trying to explain it. I've been lusting for a Submariner for over 10 years. I love the simplicity, ruggedness and it's iconic design. Earlier this year, I received a huge promotion and moved into a new position in my company into IT. This was one of those life changing moves where I felt all my hard work paid off finally. I like to think I'm relatively young at 32, so I'm ecstatic to be doing something I love and also getting paid handsomely for it. I dropped out of college 3 times but eventually went back to finish and started from the bottom at my company, so I figured I would finally pull the trigger and reward myself with the Submariner (114060). I've had it for about 3 months and still look down at it and smile. There are hundreds of posts about it, so I won't go into specifics about the watch. Thank you to all of you for showering me with knowledge over the years. To all of you in management or in a decision making position at your company; sometimes people that don't have the most experience or didn't go to the best university just need an opportunity to show how talented and committed they are. Don't be afraid to give them a chance, it may change their life. |

From one IT guy to another. We are some of the hardest workers out there. Congrats on the watch. I just purchased my first beginning of the month. And have my eye's out for a Sub in the future.

Welcome to the forum. Congrats and a great choice! The smiling is the best part. After all these years a Sub still puts a smile on my face.

Truly “A Crown For Every Achievement.” Well done, congratulations, and you’ve made a great selection that you can enjoy for life. It’ll be a reminder of your hard work and accomplishments. Good on ‘ya! And happy Thanksgiving to a man who’s obviously aware of and grateful for his blessings.
Cheers, sir! Mine says hello right back at ‘ya! BFBB8924-B3B1-4D90-8361-25A1FD28C019.jpeg CE07A751-F462-40A3-8988-1390A5095C6E.jpeg |

Hello all,
This is my first post here on the forums. Unfortunately, my uncle passed a few months ago and in his will has left me a (1996, I think?) 16233 Datejust Oyster, 36mm Steel & Yellow Gold w/MOP Dial/Gem-Set Hour Markers/Fluted Bezel/Jubilee Bracelet, which I'm proud to passed along to me in his memory, and will wear proudly with with honors. After the holidays I'm going to have the watch serviced by Rolex in Manhattan NY. This is my first Rolex watch, and I've joined the forum to learn about this watch before sending it off because my uncle lived between NY & FL, and passed while in NY leaving the box/papers in FL which my aunt is going to send me after she has settled her affairs. I've only read the first post of the "Rolex Serial Numbers By Year/Clasp Codes-Crown Markings" but don't quite understand what my serial numbers between the case lugs at the 6:00 position indicate. My serial number reads: T314596. I believe the number (3) is for Steel & 18k, and the (96) s for the year 1996, is this correct? If so, I'm not clear on what the letter (T) and the numbers (145) between (3) & (96) indicate? I would appreciate any input on this questions. Thank you very much, Joseph EDIT: Model Number 16233...not 116 |

Sub C is a great watch; congratulations!!! Unfortunately it didn't feel comfortable on my wrist. Maybe time to revisit it one of these days but for now happy with my alternative.
