Knot tach scale for PCYC watches - question around usage
Posted this over on the Panerisiti forum last night but no responses so figured I’d post here as well. Something I haven’t been able to wrap my brain around since acquiring my 654, and I can be quite thick so totally plausible that I am just not understanding how the scale is meant to be read. The conversion from knots to MPH is about 1.15, so 30 knots as measured on the tach would equate to about 34 mph - but that 30 on the rehaut is near where 600+ mph would be. Is this an error on Panerai’s part or am I just missing something blatantly obvious? Is the user just supposed to convert to true knots by multiplying by 60? If so it’s almost like this is an aviation timepiece vs regatta

Hiya - the key is to realise that there are two hands, an upper blued hand which is seconds and a lower gold hand which is minutes. A boat compared to a Daytona race car is not that quick, so it's the minute hand that is relevant:
30 knots = 2 mins to do 1 nm 3 knots = 20 mins to do 1nm 2 knots = 30 mins to do 1 nm Hope that helps clear the head ;) |
