Tudor Railroad watch

hi all,

I was chatting to a colleague who mentioned he has an old Tudor white dial dress watch that the family has passed down. He isn't really a watch guy but asked him to describe it.

He said it was all white with red 24 hour numerals - I thought may be its a railroad watch. Anyway I looked it up and this caught my eye.

Not much detail on this particular model - a bit of a mystery but does this model actually exist? it seems to also share the 7996 model number similar to that of the Ranger but far less coverage.

I have lifted this image from one of the dealers - hope its okay.

Any thoughts? thanks in advance.

i am not too much into this dials, but I dont like the lume dots. They are not centric to the smal stripes in the circle.
Furthermore your "shown" one has different hands.

In my eyes, no good...

A repainted dial is the best-case scenario here, IMO.

Those look very much like Seiko hands.

@Paul:
If ross aka Mr Tudor mentioned that ones, I have to be silent.
But if you check the lume dots... All other pieces do have centric ones. This one not. Furthermore tha hands looking really strange to me. Others do have black one.

Regards

Apparently it’s genuine.

There are a lot of odd watches among the Commonwealth market Tudors and Rolexes. I think this is one of them.

Interesting. The Duggan watch and OP's watch are the same piece, which judging from the few examples in your second link, may have the wrong hands? I wonder if they have an enamel dial to still be so white after so many years. I quite like the shield dial with no date.

thanks guys.

Yes putting aside the wrong hands in the OP watch, my question was more around does this model actually officially exists.

Feels like it does but not a widely issued piece.

Hi alwayshere -

I have included a link for one that I sold to Eric Ku back in 2014. They are genuine and do exist but not seen often as mentioned above. Mind you the original hands did not have their lume on this particular watch.
